According to the liner notes, the Candid albums _Charles Mingus Presents
Charles Mingus_, _The World of Cecil Taylor_, and _The Straight Horn of
Steve Lacy_ were all recorded on November 19, 1960 at Nola Penthouse
Studios. Must have been pretty amazing sessions, if true. Does anyone have
contradictory information?

Bob d'Orleans was the engineer at most, if not all, of the Candid
sessions recorded at Nola. Many years ago, my brother briefly dated his
daughter and when he asked my brother what kind of music he liked, my
brother asked, "Did you ever hear of Charles Mingus?" Needless to say,
my brother was quite embarrassed and taken aback when Mr. d'Orleans
explained his role at some of the most important jazz recordings ever
made.

According to Alan Saul's Dolphy Discography, the Mingus was recorded on
October 20.

Yes :-)

CHARLES MINGUS PRESENTS CHARLES MINGUS was recorded October 20,
THE WORLD OF CECIL TAYLOR was recorded October 12 and 13
THE STRAIGHT HORN OF STEVE LACY was recorded November 19.

This is from liner notes on the CD reissue (Lacy), the Taylor Mosaic
set and the Mingus Mosaic set and the Mingus discography in Priestley's
book. The Taylor Mosaic set discography is by Michael Cuscuna and
the liners by Buell Neidlinger, two rather authoritative sources.
The Mingus discography is by Brian Priestley, so it agrees with his
book :-), which is pretty definitive.

I recall that when these came out on CD that the Cadence reviewer made a
point that the dates on all of them were incorrect -- in fact, EVERY CD
reissued from Candid had the same recording date listed!

Well, while I was suspicious about the putative same date of the above
albums (thanks to Marcel for the (hopefully!) correct information), the
other two Candid CDs I have--Booker Little's _Out Front_ and Max Roach's
_We Insist! Freedom Now Suite_--do list different recording dates (March
17/April 4, 1961, and August 31/September 6, 1961, respectively).

The Mosaic boxes seem to have fixed the date problem w/ the Candid sessions:

Mingus, Charles Mosaic MD3-111 (CD)
Title: The Complete Candid Recordings Of Charles Mingus
Recorded: 10/20/1960, 11/11/1960 at Nola's Penthouse Sound Studio, NYC

Spann, Otis Mosaic MD3-139 (CD)
Title: The Complete Candid Otis Spann/Lightin' Hopkins Sessions
Recorded: 8/23/1960, 11/15/1960 at Fine Recording Studios, NYC; Nola Penthouse
Sound Studios, NYC

Taylor, Cecil Mosaic MR6-127 (CD)
Title: The Complete Candid Recordings of Cecil Taylor and Buell Neidlinger
Recorded: 10/12/1960, 10/13/1960, 1/9/1961, 1/10/1961 at Nola Penthouse
Studio, New York, NY

And one Candid reissue that seems to have "correct" dates:

Dolphy, Eric Candid CCD 79033 (CD)
Title: Candid Dolphy
Recorded: 10/20/1960, 11/1/1960, 11/11/1960, 2/2/1961, 3/17/1961, 4/4/1961 at
Nola Penthouse Studios, NYC
