wanted to chat about someone i haven't heard mentioned yet on this group and
that (as you might have guessed from the thread title) is bob berg.
recently, i've gotten ahold of "short stories" and "in the shadows" that
were released on denon in the late 80's. his music is very powerful stuff.
i've never heard any music quite like it in the jazz genre before. his
tenor sound is massive and almost angry at times. his soprano sound isn't
bad either.
he just put out a cd called "riddles" that i have yet to hear. he might
around in new york or he might be overseas in europe at the moment. i
just wondered if anyone has caught him live recently or has any of his other
stuff (it's hard to find).

A great player !
He was part of the Dieter Ilg's group on the album "Summerhill" on
my label Lipstick and played for Leni Stern for a few tunes. One
recent album was produced by Jim Beard, but I don't remember the
name. You should be able to find these albums at least at larger
Tower stores.

Check out Bob Berg's Back Roads - it's a 1991 Denon release. Stern is on
it - it's really great!
