July 14, 15 and 16 I've been to the North Sea Jazz Festival in The
Hague, The Netherlands. It was (once again) great. Especially Miles
Davis, who closed the Festival was fantastic. In contrast with
other years, he did not make one mistake and even looked at the
audience a couple of times (although his red silk jack with Batman
emblem on the back was worth looking at too). There was only one
thing missing: Marcus Miller.

He is the reason I'm writing this. I really love his sound.
Now I have the following questions I hope the net can answer for
me:
- Is there a Marcus Miller Fanclub ?
If you know of one, will you please mail me the address, phonenr,
etc,etc.
If there is not, maybe I can find some time later this year to
start one. Let me know if you're interested.
- Has anyone ever seen Marcus Miller play live, on stage ?
If so, when and where and ofcourse, with who ?
If so, are there any plans of coming to Europe ?
If not, does anyone know why (apart from spending 24 hours
a day in a studio, making, producing, playing on more records
than I can buy) ?

In addition to the answers to these questions, can somebody
mail me the address of the record compagny of Marcus or even
his own address, so I can ask him too.

I'm trying to make a list of ALL the records Marcus Miller
played on. I know this must be a veerryy long list. Has
anybody made one him/herself ? If so, can you mail it to me?
If not, can you name records Marcus played on. I already got
the names of Marcus Miller' solo albums, and most of the records
of Miles Davis, David Sanborn, Grover Washington JR., Bob James,
Luther Vandross. I'm looking for the 'smaller' jobs (like the one
song 'Rendezvous' on Sadao Watanabe's album).
Can you please help me, netters ?

Many, many thanks in advance.

One "smaller" job was on the McCoy Tyner / Jackie McLean album on Blue Note
a couple of years ago (can't remember the title; I think either "Together" or
"Time" or "Again" was in it, so I get it confused with Brubeck/Desmond/Mulligan
"Together Again For The First Time"). Plays on just a few of the cuts.

Marcus Miller is featured in 4 cuts on McCoy Tyner's "Double Trios" on the
Denon Label. This CD is a full digital recording and is excellent. The
first 4 cuts are with acoustic bass and the last 4 have Marcus on the electric
bass. You will really like the cut "Sudan". McCoy Tyner and Jackie McLean
also have a CD titled "It's About Time". Marcus is also featured on 4 cuts.
Ron Carter plays acoustic bass on the other cuts. This is a full digital
recording on the Blue Note Label. Marcus has a nice bass solo on "Travelling".
I have been a fan of Marcus Miller ever since I heard him on Dave Grusin's
"Mountain Dance" and also playing with Luther Vandross. It is nice to hear
from others who like his hard core style of electic bass playing. Marcus can
also play straight ahead jazz which is a nice plus.

It would be nice if Marcus came out with a solo album that really lets him
cut loose on the bass. I would reall like to see him in concert. He did not
play with Luther's band when they played at the Concord Pavillion. It was
somewhat dissappointing as the other bass player just dont cut the mustard!
