Armstrong's wonderful recording of "Stardust" was recorded for Okeh on
November 3, 1931. It can currently be found on three CD sets. Let's starts
at the biggest. There's a 4 CD (or cassete) box set, Louis Armstrong:
Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, put out by Columbia. It has
everything you need to hear when it comes to Armstrongs glory years of the
20's. Two versions of Stardust are presented: the master take, and an
alternate take.
For just single CD's, Columbia puts out 2. One is the fairly common Louis
Armstrong: This is Jazz #1. It's the best of his songs of the 20's, and
Stardust is included. Finally, a few years ago Columbia put out a CD,
called "Stardust" which has all the recordings he made in 1931 for Okeh.
Again, a master, and alternate take of "Stardust" is included. I have all
three sets, and I'd recommend any of them. Once again:
1. Louis Armstrong, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Columbia, 4 CD's
2. Louis Armstrong, This is Jazz #1, Columbia
3. Louis Armstrong, Stardust, Columbia.
Good luck finding this wonderful song. It's still my favorite Armstrong
vocal of all time.

>>In Woody Allen's movie "Stardust Memories" Louis Armstrong sings
>>"Stardust". Can anyone tell me the name of a CD where I might find this
>>version of the song? Is there a movie soundtrack? Thanks.

I have heard that Hoagy Carmichael himself preferred the "alternate" take,
which evidently was widely available. This is the take in which Louis
either can't remember or just alters the words, and repeats the phrase
"Oh memory" a couple of times -- thus it is sometimes referred to as the
"Oh memory" version.
