I heard it well over 20 years ago. He was singing a capella (on the radio).
It MAY have been about the American Revolution, but I can't be sure.
At any rate, it was almost certainly written post-1950. Maybe much later.
(And since this group clearly doesn't have much traffic, where else should I ask? Thanks.)
