What the hell is going on here? Lets get to the bottom of this before I
crack.

I don't think you are ever going to come up with an indisputable
source about how tall any of them were much less what they weighed at
any given time. John is generally reported as being 5'11 though many
people believe this is a slight exaggeration.
Actual weight in pounds is even harder to find than accurate height. I
suspect that the often reported weight of 150 pounds was info obtained
early on in Beatlemania before any of them reached their full adult
weight. A 150 pound guy in his very early 20's is not necessarily
small - he just hasn't caught up with the spurt in bone growth of the
teen years and filled out his frame yet.
John was at his heaviest in 65 - he even referred to the time around
the making of HELP! as his fat period and hated the way he looked.
It was a combination of too little exercise - John said in one
interview that all he did was lie around and the only exercise he got
was sex, too much pot (stimulates the appetite), too much access to
good food (having a french chef making crepes for you in your hotel
room is a bit of a change from existing on cornflakes and beer in
Hamburg!) and too many sweets. He was crazy about some English brand
of chocolate bar or cake thingy. He lost weight in the later 60's (I
think Paul found it for him - he looks his heaviest in the Let It Be
film!). Drug use probably played some role in his losing weight then
but it could have also been that he simply decided to lose weight. In
the 70's was into macrobiotic and other rather extreme diets. He was
probably at his thinnest adult weight then.
What his height and weight was has little to do with being a "bad
ass" though. John's weapon was his attitude and mouth not his fists.
Although he did have at least one memorable "barney" he was not known
as much for brawling or physical intimindation as for cold stares and
cutting remarks.
I'm trying to think of some sources for any of this but it is all a
blur of Beatle books . . . sorry!

Really?!? That doesn't seem possible. Just think how tiny that would make Ringo!

I've read sources that say John, Paul & George were all 5'11" with Ringo being
about 3 or 4 inches shorter. From pictures and videos, I'd say that Paul & George
were the same height (5'11") with John being just shy of that (maybe 5'10"). I
don't think it's possible he was 150 lbs at that height. He'd have to be VERY thin
and Paul & George both look thinner than him.

Perhaps in his late teens, but John was 23 in 1964. He would reached his adult
height and weight by then.

Yes, they all gained weight once they hit it big, and it particularly shows in
John.

True. I never really noticed that before. I wonder why??

Again true. He probably lost a few pounds by just cutting off his hair and shaving.
;-)

Did George ever appreciably gain weight?? He's always looked very gaunt to me.

It's just the beard, I think. Look at the pictures of Paul prancing around in
the sleeve notes to McCartney. He certainly looks pretty thin there.
