For that matter, why wasn't George Harrison?
Did the families give no thought to that?
This question came to me as I watched "The KIng's Speech" and the
tutor made mention that he was walking on Charles Dickens and Handel
in the scene filmed there in Westminster Abbey.

Why should they have?
?
If every popular commoner was buried there, it'd be nothing but graves from
door to door.
more importantly (?), why isn't Ringo Sir Ringo? Sir Mick Jagger but
no Sir Richard Starkey? The rumor is Simon Cowell is up for some sort
of recognition. Can you imagine a Sir Simon Cowell but no Sir Ringo!
It's an outrage!

It already is! You can't move more than a few feet without stepping on
somebody.
I agree. I think we should all sing Ringo for President. (there
really is such a song)
Perhaps it was John's request not to be placed there; he was not
really into organized religions anyway as his song God demonstrates.
Also when Elvis died I know John was well aware that Elvis' burial
site became a sort of shrine for all the fans. John I believe did not
want that at all for himself. So to be cremated, and "kept" or
scattered in some secret place went along more with John's believes.
IIRC I think John was cremated and kept under the bed in the
Dakota apartment jor at least his final resting place was not made
well known intentionally.

Goldman's book said that John was afraid of cremation and didn't want
to be cremated.
This is a really strange post. So, just because they were members of a
particular pop group that you worship above all others, you think they
should be interred in Westminster Abbey? What about members of other 60s
UK pop outfits like the Stones, the Who, etc. Do you think they should
also be allowed to be interred there, or is it just a case of "Heeyy,
it's tha BEEDLES man, it's the BEEEDLEZ!!"
I think I read somewhere that George wanted to be buried at the
Vatican,
There were a grand total of eleven people interred (not buried; only ashes allowed since 1906) at Westminster Abbey in the 20th century, with Laurence Olivier being the only one who could be loosely classified as an entertainer. Most of the others were Prime Ministers and Nobel Prize winners.
Your suggestion, quite frankly, is ridiculous.
John L
Well, that settles it. Goldman said it, so it must be true.
It goes deeper than that. Robert believes that The Beatles were a case
of divine intervention.
Being a Beatle gives you cancer?

True that.

He probably has an altar in his house.
Obviously you've never seen "Caveman".

Huh? George died "because he was a Beatle"?
Do -ALL- Beatles die from the same cancer that killed George's Mother?
What they gave thought to was Harrison's own request.
How dare they?!
The most fitting Beatle send off is ashes in the Mersey.
LOL
I mis-read that -- I thought you typed "The most fitting Beatle send
off is arses in the Mersey".
