This song was co-written by Eric Stewart of 10CC.

Wiki about the 1995 10CC album "Mirror Mirror" includes this :

"A European version of the album leaves out one song ("I'm Not In
Love: Rework Of Art Mix"), but also adds five new tracks: "Yvonne's
the One" (Written by Eric Stewart and Paul McCartney, and first
attempted in February 1985 during the sessions for Paul's Press to
Play album, but remade and completed on this album, with Paul
returning the favour by playing rhythm guitar)"

I went out with a girl by that name in `1978.
She had the worst breath you can imagine.

I may be hallucinating but I think Paul also has another, completely
different, unreleased song on bootlegs, just called "Yvonne," this is
"Yvonne's the One," which as is mentioned was recorded and released by
10cc.

Rich, you are correct. You ARE hallucinating.;-)

Seriously, there may be a another totally different Yvonne song by
McCartney, but I've never heard it. Was this one ever released by him?
If so, I would think it was some obscure B-side in a limited market. I
know this song was released on the last 10CC record. I understand that
take is a quite different approach than Paul's, and maybe that's where
the confusion is coming from?

On Youtube, there are several videos of this same version, some
labeled "Yvonne's the One" and some just "Yvonne".

BTW, I had assumed Yvonne dies tragically in the lyric, since the last
time he sees her, "she's covered in roses", but there's some ambiguity
in it, too.

Yeah, I'm not sure. There is definitely also another song called
"Yvonne," from one of my other favorite singer-songwriters, Marshall
Crenshaw, on his album "Downtown," but that's not what I'm thinking of
either. Most of my cd's are still packed up in unorganized boxes
since my recent move so I can't easily go sifting through 'em either.
I still think I"m thinking of something actual but I can't prove it
right now.
