Sigh.
I am now bound to play something by the godawful bay City Rollers!!!
It is my task to make it,,er,,somehow..entertaining..so I've chosen
"Bye Bye Baby"
http://bettylou.zzruss.com/byebyebaby.htm
Got the chords instantly from this site..but I think there's something
definately wrong with ends of each verse...the bit that goes "She's
got me but I'm not free"
Also any tips on how to make it..er..better...
(I know that's quite difficult)
Danny
actually I've worked it out it's C - Caugmented - C6 - C7...
Danny
.....and furthermore sad me didn't realise it was a Frankie Valli and
the Four Seasons song..which in turn makes me wonder about a record I
recall which was half a four seasons record and half a Beatles
record...called The Beatles Versus the Four Seasons...think it was an
american album...one wonders why???
Danny
I bought a copy of that album when I was in high school, Class of 75.
Vee-Jay Records owned the U.S. rights to the songs on the Please
Please Me LP, in addition to "From Me to You" and "Thank You Girl."
Actually, their ownership of those rights is (and was) a matter of
some dispute, but let's just say they owned them and avoid a 20,000-
word explanation. The entire story -- involving disputed release dates
and zillions of counterfeit LPs -- is out there on the web.
Those being the only Beatle songs that Vee-Jay owned, they re-packaged
them endlessly, apparently thinking American record buyers were too
dense to peruse the song titles and make sure they weren't buying the
same product twice. There was "Introducing the Beatles," "Jolly What!
The Beatles and Frank Ifield On Stage" (with no actualy live tracks by
the Beatles, of course), "Stories, Pictures, and Songs of the Fabulous
Beatles," and finally "The Beatles vs. the Four Seasons." "Stories,
Pictures..." was merely "Introducing the Beatles" in a spiffed-up
gatefold sleeve, whereas "Beatles/Seasons" was a double-LP combination
of "Introducing..." plus the previously released "Golden Hits of the 4
Seasons." Vee-Jay was in deep financial trouble at the time
(eventually filing for bankruptcy in 1966), and they just lost their
two biggest artists (the Seasons having left for Philips Records), so
they re-packaged their songs in every way imaginable until the last
drop of milk had been drained from their cash cows.
And that's why.

My condolences.
Today, I figured out the chords to "She's the one" by World
Party on piano...just by moving my fingers around.
The same can be done on guitar. Throw out those
worthless tabs that aren't usually right and cause
confusion.
She's the One is a direct rip off from Dear Friend on Wildlife! The
bit that goes "If there's somebody"..is the same melody (and chords )
as "Are you afraid"...it annoyed me for ages that I couldn't suss it
out..but I got there....!!!
Danny
Thanks, Danny. I'll check it out, and get back to you.
Jeff
Danny, I hear no resemblance between these two songs,
melody wise and the chords are not the same. No
doubt though, "She's the one" was influenced by
McCartney, but I hear Lennon singing it.
The two songs aren't even in the same key,
Danny. I just checked it out on piano.
Well when I heard Robbie Williams having a hit with the fucker It
irritated me for ages..and then I got it...
Danny
(Friendly voice) What are you irritated about? It's very easy
to write a McCartney "type of song", but it's doesn't
mean it's a direct rip of an actual McCartney song.
One time in 1984, I submitted a song to a song
writing contest or a music publisher. I got a short
letter back telling me that I was too close to
writing Beatles types of songs, and to make
sure I cleared copy. Hell, my song sounded
nothing like any Beatles tunes, so the guy
didn't know what he was talking about.
Jeff
I was irritated because I couldn't work out which song he nicked it
from..eventually I got it and the world was beautiful again.
Danny
HaHa.
Okay, but the Beatles themselves nicked music from other
artists. I myself don't see the point of it...cause all you
have to do is to write out a chord progression, not
listen to the radio much...and most likely write an
original tune....but that was then and this is now.
Does it bother you that the Beatles nicked songs
from other artists? I couldn't care less.

A change of key doesn't have any relevance to similarity of songs.
I know that, but I was responding to what the poster wrote:
Danny the Walrus wrote:

It doesn't have the same chords if the song isn't in the same
key. This is what I was responding to.
