Quick Joey Small went over the wall
With a ball and a chain behind him
Quick Joey Small went over the wall
They sent the dogs right out to find him
With a striped prison suit and no loot to boot
He headed for the highway
With his chain metal draggin' he thumbed down a wagon
And said, "Friend, how 'bout goin' my my?"
(chorus)
Run, Joey! Joey, run, run!
The hounds are on your trail!
Run, Joey! Joey, run, run!
They're gonna send you back to jail!
(etc.)
If anyone has any memory, information, or (dare I hope?) a recording of
this silly little song from my youth, I would be most grateful if they
would get in touch.
Thanks,
Mark Hayes

Yep that was
The Kasenetz Katz Super Circus sometimes known as
The Kasenetz Katz Singing Orchestral Circus. A supposed collection of all the
groups recording under the Buddah label and producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff
Katz. As the groups were mainly sessions musos, well.....
Ohio Express, 1910 Fruitgum Company.
The lead singer on Quick Joey Small was the same guy who sang most of the Ohio
Express stuff, also sang for The Third Rail (Run, Run, Run), Crazy Elephant
(Gimme Gimme Good Lovin) I think his name was Joey Levine.
The song would be available on a "Bubblegum" compilation, I have it on an
import from Germany. The song was released in 1969 and the K&K Circus did put
out a couple of albums.
Cheers
