My friend told me that Pearl Jam covered a Beatles song, but he can't
remember the name of the song. If you know respond (please by e-mail).

Becky,

They covered I've Got A Feeling. The studio version is on the Japanese
import version of the "Ten" album, and is floating around on several
bootlegs, as is several live versions, since they played it a lot on the
1992 tour.

Rebecca Robinson <rer2...@marauder.millersv.edu> reported that a friend
had heard Pearl Jam doing a cover of a Beatle song, but couldn't name it.

Given Pearl Jam's preference in music, one might have thought the song
might be 'Helter Skelter', 'Why Don't We Do It In The Road' or some other
fast paced rocker.

But no. According to David Fricke in his article, 'You Shoulda Been
There', in the September edition of 'Rolling Stone', during the group's
first show at Denver's Red Rocks Ampitheatre (between June 15-20 - the
article is not specific on dates), "during an instrumental change,
[Eddie] Vedder went into an unexpected, but wonderful impromptu rendition
of the Beatles 'I've Just Seen A Face'. He did only one verse and a
chorus, solo a capella, but it showed that hidden somewhere in his
open-heart surgery style of singing was a focused and compelling
balladeer - and a true romantic".

Given that earlier this night, Pearl Jam had debuted two new songs,
'Havoc' and 'I've Got Shit', Vedder's a capella rendition brings to mind
the session, some 30 years earlier (almost to the day), when Paul
McCartney recorded 'Yesterday' right after having torn his vocal chords
out on the gutsy 'I'm Down' (Interestingly enough, Paul also recorded
'I've Just Seen A Face' on this day too).

David Fricke's comments about Eddie Vedder could equally have been
applied to that effort in 1965.

I am sure it has already been mentioned but their a studio recording of
PJ's cover of "I've Got a Feeling" on bootleg "No Fuckin' Messiah." I am
sure it is available on other boots too.

I've seen a Pearl Jam bootleg (actually my roomate owns it) that has
them doing an alright cover of I've Got A Feeling. It's from their
1992/3 tour of the US and the UK. It also has masters of War( a Dylan
cover) as well as others.

By the way..it's called Covering Them.
