Has he lost his mind or what?

No, no! No one knows for certain what Paul was thinking. The consensus is
that it was a joke that wasn't funny. You know how something sounds good in
your head, but awful after you've said it?

Consensus? It sounds more like PM's press release "spin" on what I beleive
was a mis-read of the card, by someone who doesn't have a clue to who Lauren
Hill is.

I think his joke was perfect. Read that any way you want.

He did a similiar thing in his Flaming Pie promo video when he pronounced Lenny
Kravitch's name wrong. It was pretty funny there.

That was my first thought, but now I'm positive he knows perfectly well who she
is.

It was a joke - and taking certain things into consideration, a pretty funny
one. Like Michael, I will say no more. :-)

It was unquestionably a joke. "Some guy name Laurece Hill? I love that guy!"
Some people found it funny, others thought it was pretty stiff, I vote for
stiff.

As I posted in a previous thread, if Paul had truly misread the card, he would
have had no reason to say "The winner is some guy named Lawrence Hill" -- that
would have been a bizarre thing to say. He would simply have said, "The winner
is Lawrence Hill."

I agree. The joke was good. Kind of reminded me of something the Beatles
would've said back in the 60s during some of their press-conferences (before
they got bored with them). Also kind of reminds me of Paul's "Sophie Tucker"
joke from that era.

I recall that also. He also said something about Paul McCarthy. "Lawrence Hill"
might have been also an inside joke between him and Lauryn Hill. At least he
didn't say "The fool on the hill".
