John and Paul appeared in an interview segment on
the Tonight Show in 1968, promoting the startup of
the Apple Records label.
Unfortunately, Johnny Carson was on vacation
that week, and they were interviewed by the guest
host, Joe Garigiola, a former Baseball player, turned
NBC sports announcer, and later, one of the hosts
of NBC's Today Show.

This was where Ed Sullivan claimed the Fabs wanted to dedicate the first
three songs to Johnny Carson, Randy Paar and Early Wilson, right?
The Beatles knew nothing about this dedication. It was Ed's idea. Johnny
Carson was, of course, the preeminent late-night talk show host.
Earl Wilson, a syndicated entertainment/gossip columnist (Ed had been a
colleague of Wilson's and a gossip columnist himself in his early days).
Randy Paar was the daughter of rival host Jack Paar (and who, it's
reported, begged her father and Sullivan to settle their long-standing
personal feud long enough to get her tickets to the show).

John & Paul appeared on the Tonight Show to promote the opening of Apple. Joe
Goragiolla (sp?) was the guest host.
It was (as I recall) 1984. Full, sit-down interview with Johnny, no music.
