Blows me away. Mostly near the end of the song, it sounds like a
keyboard instrument. It sounds similar to the instrument used in Led
Zeppelin's Kashmir, also maybe The Boxer. I was told the Led Zeppelin
instrument is a keyboard used to play recorded violin/other instrument
sounds. Don't know what it is about it, but I like it a lot.

Listen to Dahldude's version of this...if he is willing to share? He's
the best, IMO...and might be able to
answer your question. (s)

The instrument on HCTS was a Moog synthesizer.

The so-called "Led Zeppelin instrument" was a Mellotron.

There was no keyboard on The Boxer. Strings, a bass harmonica, and Hal
Blaine on the ol' chain and concrete.

"Harrison sang lead vocals and played acoustic guitar and Moog
synthesizer. Paul McCartney sang backing vocals and played bass guitar.
Ringo Starr played drums, with all three Beatles providing handclaps.
John Lennon did not contribute to the song as he was recovering from a
recent car crash (he was also absent from George Harrison's "Long, Long,
Long"). Unnamed musicians played violas, cellos, double bass, piccolos,
flutes, alto flutes, and clarinets."

I'm guessing that what you're referring to is the Moog.

Are those flutes? Or are they recorders? They sound open and
juvenile, like recorders.

Maybe it's all in the setting. They sound like those tone controls in
electronic kits if not done well. The Monkees used one earlier than
most in 1967. Maybe it's the way the guitar and synthesizer blend in
HCTS that works, that's the real art of music production.

It sure sounds like they were pumping guitar and mellotron through the

BTW, Wikipedia can contain anything anyone wants to put in it. Truth
can be edited out with opinion, especially if you're submission is
politically incorrect.

FWIW.
If that sound in Here Comes the Sun were a technical thing, I think
it would have taken a lot of research to produce. Maybe some songs
use a wobbly off key counterbalance towards the end
(counterbalancing what, I dunno). Or maybe it conveys ambience.

I had a run-in with some of the moderators in the dictionary area of
that thing. Big huge turn off.

Would you care to translate that into something we might be able to
understand?

Agreed.

Yeah, but what are you going to do? Is there an *online* source that's
authoritative?

The www.beatlesgear.tk site used to be fairly accurate for these sorts
of questions but it appears to have been shut down.

Was there anything you did not understand in the original post? Have
you already replied to that post in context and asked for clarification
there? Take care of the basics first.

If you can toss up a time in and time out during the song, I (or
someone) can better satisfy your wish.

I'm guessing the high single voice counter melody that sounds kind of
flutey which is towards the end. That would be the Moog Synth.

You can see some Beatles / Moog notes here:

But send us a zone and let's figure it out.

Since that time I have seen so much surreal stuff on the Internet, I hesitate to criticize anything difficult to understand.
