yes, it was John's. i suppose i really should listen to oasis sometime so i can get my own viewpoint, but
from what i've heard (and a picture i've seen of them) they're just plagiarizers.

I very much doubt that!!! Oasis wrote it because they really liked a
move titled "Wonderwall" so he did not write it ( JOHN)

John Lennon did not write the song "Wonderwall." Oasis got the song from
a movie titled "Wonderwall." The lead singer of the group liked the
movie a lot and decided to write a song after it. Oasis are Beatles
wannabees.

Is that anything to do with the "Wonderwall" film that George Harrison
did the soundtrack music for?

interesting tho...if John HAD written wonderwall..would we all be
saying 'what a great song'??...is a song 'great' whever written by a
group OR in 'the style' of said group by another ??. to me..a song is
good no matter WHO writes it..even if it is derivative of another group.

Noel Gallagher wrote "Wonderwall" as he writes almost all of Oasis's
songs. I think its a great song either which way.

I don't mean to be rude, but how do you conclude plagiarism from a

Every true Beatles fan knows that "Wonderwall" is associated with
George Harrison. WONDERWALL is also the title of George's first solo
album which was issued in 1968. This also marks the first solo album
issued by an individual Beatle.

The soundtrack for the film "Wonderwall" has nothing to do with the song
"Wonderwall", aside from the fact that both of them are from the 1960s. The
soundtrack for wonderwall is all instrumental, by the way.

Yeh, that's right and "Wonderwall" was the name of one of George
Harrison's LP's.
Have you noticed that one of Oasis' songs's begins with nearly the exact
same beginning as John Lennon's Imagine? I don't know the name of the
song though.

"Wonderwall" was written by a fellow named Mike Flowers in the mid-60s. He
was a one hit wonder with the song (as performed by the "Mike Flowers
Pops") and he apparently had no problem with Harrison appropriating the
name for his album and movie. Flowers' follow-up single, "Son of God" was
considered "blasphemous" by many in the UK (neither single made much of a
dent in the US) and pretty much ended his career, so he no doubt enjoyed
the brief revival his name had in the public when the film was released.
Oasis rerecorded the song recently (some copies of the album mistakenly
credit the Gallagher brothers as the original authors, though these copies
are now somewhat rare), and a 3-song CD of Flowers' original, along with
"Son of God" and a third previously unreleased instrumental has also
recently become available. Ask your local record store, as it can be
ordered as a UK import and is quite good.

The above story, while based entirely on fact, is an utter load. Thank you.

Every true Beatles fan also knows that the song "Wonderwall" had nothing to do

He didn't. George had an album called "Wonderwall Music". It was an
all-instrumental soundtrack for the film "Wonderwall". He *didn't* write it,
and if Oasis had had the integrity of giving giving the real writer of
"Wonderwall" credit where it's due in "Morning Glory"'s booklet rather than
making it seem as if it were an original composition, we would have known who
*really* wrote it.

oh, noooo!!!! okay, one more time, i shall try to alleviate the confusion that i helped to perpetuate: there
was a movie called Wonderwall that George wrote the music for. the soundtrack was called "Wonderwall
Music". oasis liked the movie and wrote a song by the same name. no Beatle wrote the *song*

One listen to the Oasis song Wonderwall should be enough to answer the
question for any Beatles fan. First, the music sounds a lot more like
Paulie McCartney than John. And secondly, John's lyrics were never as
stupid as the ones in Wonderwall (".....and after alllllll, you're my
wonderwallllll....." What the hell is that?).

Not to flame Oasis, they're an okay band, and Wonderwall is a pleasant
song to listen to. But let's keep it in perspective. Oasis has not come
close to the originality or quality of the Beatles, and I sincerely doubt
they ever will. Oasis made their name as much for their penchant for
spewing obscenities and their boorish behavior as they did for their
music. If a band of guys that have no class and revel in acting like
children while all the while imitating another bands music is what you
prefer, then by all means: enjoy yourselves.

Me? I'll stick with the Beatles.

Don't you hate it when people try to connect the Beatles with Oasis? It
probably was started by the agent for Oasis for publicity. Either that or

Beatle like stuff we get the better..we dont have the Beatles any
more..Just a few hundred wonderfull songs...Im all for ANY group that
keeps this going...do you realise how many young people like the Beatles
because they are Oasis fans and never were interested in the Beatles
until Oasis came along....e.g. My niece is 13 years old...few years back
I was talking to her (she was about 10) about the beatles and she LAUGHED
