Of the different albums released by the Beatles, either as a group or
as individuals, which album cover was your favorite?
Mine . . . . I think one of my faves was Two Virgins! Yay.

continue with pr's track: why precisely is "Two Virgins" your favorite
Beatles-related album cover ("Yay")? It strikes me as an eccentric
choice, and your reasons might be fascinating, even if most of your
other posts are flat out dim.

There's lots of reasons to like the cover of Two Virgins. It's
daring, provocative, original. And the human body is often very
beautiful.
John's songwriting and his personal style was very autobiographical,
and I think the cover is consistant with his philisophy of making
himself the subject of his "art."

Everytime that I cross a street with the "tiger stripes"

I found it...*ominous* when I first saw it. And when I listened to it,
that experience only added to my initial reaction to the cover.

Yes, that's one interpretation. But I recall reading a John interview
where he said he deliberately did not have him or Yoko pose in a sexy
way. So IMO it was more than just merely stripping himself of the
Beatles. He wanted the public to see that they were two ordinary
people.

The fact that I enjoy tittering over nudity (and yes, I sometimes
enjoy nudity. Don't you???) does not mean that I can't see it as art.
The two are not mutually exclusive. One can appreciate an example of
art and titter at the same time.
As a matter of fact some people would argue that the best art is the
art that strikes an emotional chord, that makes you laugh, or angry or
puzzled, etc. In other words, art that PROVOKES an emotion or a
reaction in the viewer.

I was forced (being born in 1966) to be in the position to buy The
White Album "post Manson" (1978),
so, it too, was very ominous for me, looking at just a white cover.
Of course, at 13, "Revolution 9" actually gave me nightmares, but
that'll tend to happen when you fall asleep with
Side 4 waiting to drop onto the platter. The comforting feeling was
"Good Night".
I need to get ahold of those four photos again and put them up in the
basement.

The vinyl I have of the white album isn't white at all. It has

I have a copy of the vinyl (No 006535). The front cover is white
except for the embossed number and title ("The Beatles"). There are
photos on the inside. Are you sure you don't have the album folded
inside out?
My favourite album cover has to be Abbey Road because it was the first
album I ever bought and it is still - and always has been - in my all-
time top 3. It's a much mimicked cover too - and often re-created by
tourists. There are plenty of album covers where you can identify the
location of the artwork, but not so many sought out by fans with
cameras.

purchases...and then I *grande jette* the heck outta the store before

Sometimes a photo or work of art is interesting for several reasons.
One does not exclude the other.

No, I don't think it's possible for it to be inside out. It just has
pictures of them. Similar to the Let it Be cover, only that better
pictures.
I think the cover might just have been different here. That was often
the case then it seems. I also have the cover (only the cover) of A
Hard Day's Night, and it's just a picture of them (and not even a very
good one). But then the covers of Beatles for Sale, Sgt. Pepper,
Abbey Road, Let it Be, Hey Jude, Yellow Submarine, are all right. The
Help one is slighly different...

Abbey Road might be my favourite album cover as well. Probably
influenced by it being probably my favourite album. Though I think
Sgt. Pepper, Rubber Soul, Revolver are great as well. They're all
pretty good. Now that I like a pair of other bands/musicians (almost)
as much as The Beatles, as to know the album covers, I find that The
Beatles ones are noticeably better. Even as solo artists.

logos, album cover art, & psychedelic concert posters [ thinking
about getting my first tattoo ] 50 years old & my first. Seems a bit
strange I guess. I considered getting one about 30 years ago. Which
probably would have been a pot leaf, a peace sign, or a Stones tongue.
So I'm kinda glad I didn't. I might not mind having the tongue but I
don't think I'd care for having the others today. I ran across this cool
site. This part is pictures of album covers that copied Beatles covers.
Some other cool stuff there too. There were a few I'd never seen before.

I'm with you on this one. In a world that was beginning to explode in
garish primitive color TV hues, they went with a black and white line
drawing/photo montage. And there's something about the sinewy,
intertwining lines of the hair that echoes the guitar lines in songs
like "She Said, She Said". The overall graphic effect is that there's
a central vortex, a cascade down and around from the sides and top
that leads directly to that central photograph of John with his
knowing Mona Lisa half-smile, most likely taken around the time that
Klaus knew him best. The artist's hand here has an emotional
connection to the subject and it shows.

Expecialy when its the Yokes firkin nude body!!! Like, shes not
beautiful in a "conventational" sorta way...if thats yer cuppa tea, a
convential beauty,. with a nice neat lil ole patch o pubic hair and
