I've just finished watching a programme in what I think is the second series
being shown here in Toronto of a U.K. police show called 'New Tricks'.
Denis Waterman (who is hilariously parodied in 'Little Britain') does the
theme song over the end credits as he did for the first series. This time,
however, the song is different. Imagine my feelings when I heard Waterman
sing 'End of the Line', but it was billed as 'It's Alright', and attributed
to Mike Moran (famous British songwriter).
Does anyone know what's going on here? Did Moran actually write this, but go
uncredited on 'Vol. 1'? And why the change in title?
I do remember reading that George Harrison knew Mike Moran, and they may
even have worked together.
Very curious.
GV, in Toronto.

Damn! I was trying to remember where I'd heard that song before, and
the credit as original was putting me off ...
Thanks!

Was it, as 'Vol. 1' says, a Wilbury's song, or - as the credits to 'New
Tricks' say - a Mike Moran song?

Mike Moran was the guy Paul McCartney used for the string score of "She's
Leaving Home" when George Martin was unavailable.

Well, the 'Mike' part was right. Mike Leander did "She's Leaving Home",
as well as "Shirley's Wild Accordion" for MMT.
Shitty!! yes you're right, it was Mike Leander that did strings for SLH.
I had to find out why in the hell i came up with Moran and after a search i
found out he did a lot of work with Queen & Freddie mercury and produced FM
& caballe on the barcelona album. Having read a Freddie Biog a few years ago
the name Moran must have stuck somewhere in my subconcience, so i suppose i
must've got it from there.
Apologies anyway.
Even so, a look at the allmusic guide provided a credit for Mike Moran as a
musician on George Harrisons Gone Troppo album.
It's amazing how a ballsed up answer can turn itself around and still be
viable.
