I never heard this before.

I wonder why it wasn't on Anthology?

No. This track is one of a batch of semi-finished "Abbey Road" tracks
which have been booted as far back as the late 70s. The first bootleg I
know of had the Abbey Road songs on side one, and a tape of Paul and
Donovan on side two.

Really cool to hear, thanks a lot. Some great piano playing from
Paul's part and what a cool jam it evolves into at the end.

If you put every take/alternate version of every Beatles song out on
Anthology, you might get to Anthology 100. Since there were only 3
Anthology two-disc packages, they had to be very choosy. Further, Abbey
Road is limited to Anthology 3 along with the White Album and Let It Be.
There are only so many alternate tracks that can make it to Anthology 3. I
guess this one lost out to the other tracks given this constraint. If they
decide to release Anthology 4 through 100, it will probably be there.

I'll start saving my pennies.

I'd love to have a cd with alternate versions like 'You Never Give Me Your
Money' !

=========

After a hiatus with vinyl boots, I started gathering them again on CD
after logging onto RMB in the early 90s. One of my first purchases
was a set of Japanese discs that had the full official releases of
albums with about a half dozen each of corresponding boots added to
them respectively. Abbey Road contained this one.

I *did* have this demo of YNGMYM on vinyl and carried around on
cassette in my car for years. And was delighted to have a better
version on CD. The original vinyl was the gatefold double album
"Sweet Apple Tracks"

I have a vinyl booleg by that title, but it's all stuff from the Let It
Be Twickenham Film Studios sessions and YNGMYM isn't on it. Pretty hard
to listen to - badly recorded and boring.

I have a CD bootleg called "Alternate Abbey Road" that has this early
mix of YNGMYM.

This demo clears up the question for me that Paul is singing "Any
*jobber* got the sack..." It's quite clear.

I always heard it as jobber. It was "yellow lorry slow" that I couldn't make
out until I read the printed lyrics.

It was always that way for me. Strange lyric indeed!

My guess is that it was sung that way to fit the tune.

Paul's saying, "any job he had, he always got sacked."

I always got that sense from the lyrics, but heard it as "had a job
and got the sack." Probably because jobber is not a common word in
American English.

More often heard as a 'jobbing plumber, or carpenter, or electrician'
or whatever. An independent contractor, not tied to a company.
