I just heard a quick news report on a major TV station about the
famous mansion used in the Batman series (Bruce Wayne's mansion). It
reportedly burned down and there was no reason as yet. It (was)
located in Pasadena, Ca. This is the house Paul McCartney just recently
purchased. They said it was "vacant." Has anybody heard anything
about this?

This story has created a lot of confusion. The house that burned down was
at 160 So. San Rafael in Pasadena. Although one Batman movie had been
filmed there, mostly this house was known for other movies filmed there. It
is currently owned by members of the Armand Hammer family. Unfortunately,
the news media seized upon the idea that this was the Batman Manion,
otherwise known as Wayne Manor, of television fame. That was incorrect.

The Batman Mansion is at 380 So. San Rafael, and that is the house that Paul
was rumored to have bought, although a couple claiming to be the owners have
denied that. Of course, they could just be trying to throw people off the
track. It is known that Paul has been seen in Pasadena from time to time,
at a particular Mexican restaurant, so he has to have a residence somewhere
around there. Originally, the Pasadena Star News had a story that he bought
a house on Hillcrest Avenue, near the Ritz Carlton Hotel. No one seems to
really know, and that's probably the way it should be.
