As we all know that there have been arguments and name calling
over John and Yoko's marrige just wondering about in here.
Me married seven years (1987-1994), divorced and no rug-rats that I
know of, lived on my own intill 2007, moved in with my girlfried then.
Marrige is down the line(:
when, that's a different question.
Anybody else willing to share?

My relationships all ended because I had an addiction problem.

I was addicted to emotionally damaged women I thought I could help.

his mom through grad school all out of my own pocket - when those two
were finished with me, they were gone and never heard a thank you

Finally, I settled down (now 15 years) with an unconditional love
relationship in which I helped raise her two teenage daughters who
have a great reationship with my son as brothers and sisters, My

his two grandkids twice since they were born, I am defacto grandpapa

I was married in 1968 to a beautiful student nurse. I went to Vietnam
shortly thereafter, so there was a bit of a strain early in our
marriage although we met in Honolulu, Hawaii, and stayed for five days
on Waikiki for my R & R.

We lasted until 1976 when we separated. We were married too young,
and we grew "out of love". Divorced one year later with no children
involved, fortunately. I would have made a terrible parent.

But I was married again here in Mexico in 2002, and........... are you
absolutely certain you want to hear the story, "Tequila Mockingbird"?

Involves sex, drugs, rock-and-roll and much more...........

Same here, had and have a hard taking care of myself,
never mind a kid. With my luck he or she would grow up
and be worse than I was.

I'm thankful for so much and know I"m so lucky but this relationship
is not giving either of us a lot of happiness for the most part, we
are really not compatible and there are so many hurts and resentments
that have built up over the years. (It's not always terrible,
sometimes the clouds part and we enjoy some nice lighter carefree time
together and enjoy each other's company, but really those times are
more and more the exception and right now, the last couple days, it's
hard to see when the next will be.) Anyway I have a vague plan to get
out and start again when the youngest of the kids is out of the house
- they're not "my" kids, my step-kids, 4 girls, but I love them and I
think they love me and I just wouldn't put them through having their
lives disrupted and family broken up a second time, especially the
youngest two, we are really bonded and have a warm, loving
relationship......I think anyway........but at any rate it'll be
another, oh, 8 or 9 years before the youngest one is in college, at
that point I"ll be working my way through my mid to late 50's, maybe
it won't be too late to find someone who shares more of my interests
and likes and more importantly general attitude toward and view of
life.....or at any rate to go back to enjoying freedom like I did
until my long-delayed marraige (at 41, now I'm 48).....hoping I"ll
still be sprightly, healthy and energetic enough by then to enjoy

I don't have any real relationship with Yoko worth speaking of.
However, if the two times that I got together with Courtney Love are
any indication of my prospects regarding famous rock widows, I doubt
that Yoko and me would end up being anything remotely resembling
soulmates. (Besides which, an acquaintance of mine pulled a mildly
dirty trick on Ms. Ono once, and I always end up getting blamed for my
friends' antics in those sorts of situations).

My first marriage didn't work out - we married too young (emotionally,
that is) and when we grew, I wasn't what she wanted me to be and I
felt suffocated. However, those five years brought me two daughters
who have grown to be fine young women (and one has now given me two
lovely grand-daughters) so it isn't all bad news. I'm now married for
the second time to a woman with many wonderful qualities but with a
few demons too. Just goes to show, there's not much in this world
that's perfect.

That's easy. My SO knows I don't hate Yoko. And the things and say I
do in real life hardly have anything to do with the RMB, the Beatles,
John & Yoko, etc. He knows I am interested in the Beatles and about a
million other things which I don't discuss at RMB. RMB is a Beatles
group so the discussion here tends to be focused, but that does not
mean I have no life outside of RMB. (hard to believe :-) )

I hug myself sometimes accidently on purpose trying to scratch my
own back. I can't get in the right spots and it's a painful
hug/squeeze. It would hurt more if I put both of my arms behind
my back at the same time. I tried doing that the other night,
almost fell out of bed, and instead farted. Secretary of Beth
was watching and laughed. She wears these boots that look
funny. I was inspecting them and I farted some more.
She slapped my hand and told me to go to sleep. That
was a mistake. You can guess what happened next.

Marriage is bollocks..I have no idea why people do it. What's the
point? They only wind up getting divorced or pissed off at the end of
it. Strikes me that it's a bizarre way to get a hold onto somebody to
try and prevent them fucking off with somebody else..when eventually
they do anyway. Marriage is a pointless and expensive exercise. If you
love somebody that's enough IMO.

Danny, I have one brother who has had the attitude with women, "just

way. Not all women will fcuk you over. It depends on who you are
with, and the type. My other brother and I never got married either.
Just don't have the desire to. I would even live alone, if I could
afford to....but it's nice sometimes just having someone next
to you. Beats being totally alone.

Here's a reason: because unless you're married, you cannot be on the
other's healthcare plan (in the States). I lived "in sin" with my
"significant other" until I lost my job, and needed health insurance. So
we got married. Romantic hey?

Depends don't it? In the U.S. at least there are hundreds of reasons to
be married rather than just "love" someone.

And there's the notion of human rituals: which might be awfully silly
(what isn't besides living, eating, fucking, and dying?), but it's these
sorts of stupid affairs (born of rabid imaginations) that make humans
humans. After all, why hold on to even the silly poetic notion of
"love": procreating listlessly in the dirt and heat seems good enough
for most animals. If you're willing to accept one grandiose human myth
(Love) why necessarily stop there?

Historically, *marriage* was a business transaction. LOVE entered the
picture around the first millenium (CE).

Thanks, Dave. I just try to bring some humor into this
place. We are still lacking the right food, so I say,
let er rip. Like my father says: It feels better out than
in. :-)

Sometimes business, sometimes a "peace treaty" but always a bargaining
tool of some sort - except for the lowest of the low who had nothing
to bargain with or for but it was probably still more to do with
getting a good deal for life rather than "love" until probably
Victorian times.

...and it's still a rather shaky and forlorn dream cake, baked by
millions every year without much conviction. The initial rush of sexual
adrenalin gives way (if lucky) to respect and trust and mutual
admiration and "fun times" and memories and duty and conviction, plus a
bit of lingering passion that can often emerge as rancor (hpoefully
passing) and resentment (same). "Love" is a neat human construct no more
or less valid than any other human utopianism. It's certainly managed to
inspire a whole cellarful of great, mediocre, and downright horrible
songs, and has led many a young person into a lifetime of regret and
disappointment. A wonderful thing as these things go...

Yeah, I Like to make people laugh if I can, Dave. I should

on my part. I'm not into making people feel bad, or on the

tonight: I was sitting at my computer, and all of a sudden,
Beth comes out of the bedroom to take some of her
pills. Next thing I know, she tripped, and was making
a joke about it. I wasn't paying much attention to
what was happening, but all of a sudden I hear this
sound like a suffocation sound. So, I jumped up
from this computer, and Beth is lying there on the
floor...a few feet away from me off to the right.
I'm standing behind the back of her head, and
suddenly...she starts snoring. Her eyes are fixed,
staring into space, and I could tell Beth can't
breath. It scared the shit out of me, and I didn't
know what to do. So, I put my thumb on her
bottom lip to open her mouth so she could
breathe. She finally told me to let go of her
lip, but she stared into space and wasn't
responding to me while I called 911. Then
she shut her eyes for about 10 minutes, as
if she was asleep. I almost went into shock.
I think you said you don't believe in God, and
I'm not writing this to change your mind. I'm
just saying to me it's a miracle she's
survived this. It was a horrible experience
that I saw tonight.

Thanks so much for caring to answer my post. She was kept
overnight at the hospital. They are still doing tests, and I'm
not sure if she'll be released today. She had a seizure
we think. I'm concerned because after having breast cancer
almost 5 years ago, they found a spot and think she has
skin cancer. This was before she had the seizure last night,
and the results of that test haven't come back yet.

Thanks. I haven't heard this before. Is it a boot?

Thanks, Dave. She is ok, but I've never seen anyone
fall to the floor before, and start snoring.
It makes no sense.
