Just wondering what anyone thought might be a price range for a Vox
Continental Organ (like John played at Shea). It works perfectly and
is physically in very good condition. Had to relace 1 cover latch and
the power cord. Sorry, no legs. I sold then separately a few years ago
for $150.00. I am going to check other sites for opinions, Also. I
don't do Ebay or Craigslist, so don't suggest I sell it there. Just
curious.

Even if you don't sell it there, that's probably the best place to
get a sense of what the market value is.

if it works perfectly then it's worth a bunch. I've seen them sold here in Portland for $1200. Or, should I say, I've seen them in stores with that price tag.

I sold the legs for $150. A good price for a couple of chrome plated tubes.
I needed an estimate to know what to ask on craigslist. I still have it. So far I have an offer of $250. It works perfectly.

Yes. It is in excellent working condition. it has minor cosmetic faults. Non-original power cord. Plastic piece on one drawbar missing (drawbar works). One non-original cover latch, and of course as metioned, I sold the legs and case for them a long time ago to someone who offered a rediculous amount of money. Interested?

Have you sold the organ? I'm interested, if you have sold it do you know of anyone who might have one in condition to fix up?

Too many weird people there. Do E-bay, and find out how high the rating is with
the person you do business with.

People are just as weird on Ebay as they are on Craigslist. At least on
Craigslist you can see the merchandise and the seller firsthand. On
Ebay you really don't know who or what you're dealing with. If you
happen to receive a box of rocks or the equivalent, you may have little
recourse, and what you do have can take months to resolve.

You're right about the ratings, they do provide a helpful guideline,
but that doesn't prevent stuff from going horribly wrong. This is a
voice of experience speaking.

The same developer used to have a Vox Continental plugin as well,
called "Combo V", but he seems to have taken it off the net. I have a
copy if anyone wants it.

My voice of experience is that I was going to meet up with some weirdo on
craigslist to buy another analog studio when he never answered any of
the questions I asked him. Something about the guy was just creepy,
and he didn't seem that interested even in doing business with me.
No, that one experience proves nothing, but with e-bay, you don't have
to meet up with anybody.

Well, I've been burned a couple of times on eBay by people who appeared
to be honest and answered my questions, but went ahead and sent me
broken stuff anyway.

And you do have to use your intuition on Craigslist. If they don't
answer your questions fully, or if they seem hinkey, just don't buy
from them. There will always be another of what you're looking for come
along eventually.

Some towns in my area have started encouraging people to meet for their
sale at the local police station to avoid any chance of personal
danger. I like that idea - I hesitate to tell people my home address,
although for some things it's hard to avoid, like with the lawn mower
I'm currently trying to sell, or the bicycle I bought last month. I
bought a CD player a couple of months ago from a woman, and I suggested
we meet in the parking lot at a Target store.

All in all, I prefer Craigslist, where you can see and touch the
merchandise before you buy, and where you can get a slightly better
handle on the seller, and where you don't have to deal with shipping.
Buy local, I say.

I think someone bought me a guitar once from e-bay, and it looked very nice.
It wouldn't stay in tune though and the tuning pegs started falling off the
guitar within 3 days.

Right. I almost told this guy why I didn't buy from him, but never did.

Yep.

Great idea.

Well, there's a lot of crime in the area where I was attempting to do business
with that guy on Craigslist, and the only question he responded to, was when
I asked him about a de-magnetizer. He said if I wasn't concerned about not
having one, let's get together. But the fact that he answered none of my other
questions appeared fishy to me.
