I find that hard to believe. I'd need a cite for it. I found a list that someone posted (he said he found it on a site but there's no link). Number 1 was "If You Gotta Make a Fool of Somebody".

When released on the Marc label, "Harlem Shuffle" became a modest hit on the R&B chart. Its vocal interplay directly influenced later duos such as Sam and Dave. However, its main success came as late as 1969, when it was re-released in the UK and became a Top Ten hit there. Reportedly, George Harrison called it his favourite record of all time.

It looks like the Action's version is, in fact, from 1969. I'd thought it was earlier. I like it much better than the one by the Rolling Stones but the original is so much better than either there's really only a historical reason for listening to them. (in my opinion, folks!)

Interesting if it's true? First time I've heard the song.

Bruce, did any of the other Beatles ever talk about their own favorite Beatles or solo material besides John?

Ask one of the Beatles experts in this group.

Thanks. Well, we know what John's favorite Beatles songs of his is/was.
What we don't know are his favorite songs from his solo career.

He said in one of his later interviews that "Imagine" and "Love" stood up to any of his Beatles songs, so presumably they were favorites. Whether he was right about them standing up to his best Beatles work is another question.

I find "Love" to be on the same level as "Julia". Both are heartfelt songs with beautiful melodies. "Imagine" has become an anthem containing his beliefs within minimalist lyrics, much like "All You Need Is Love" or "The Word". So, I do can why Lennon said that "Love" and "Imagine" stand up to his best Beatles work.

Both songs make me poop sulfur farties. Most of Lennon's work is really
smelly doody plops.

I figured his favorite was "Got my mind set on you". :-)
