On the album “The Beatles 1967-1970” the jacket has the lyrics to “Get Back”. It says, “Sweet Loretta Modern”. If you listen to the song, Paul sings “Modern”. If it was Martin you would hear him sing a “T” sound what with him being a Brit and all. Brits don’t pronounce a T as a D.

Interesting... The 'published' lyrics say Martin...

Get Back
The Beatles

Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner
But he knew it wouldn't last
Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona
For some California grass

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back Jojo, go home

Get back, get back
Back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Back to where you once belonged
Get back Jo

Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman
But she was another man
All the girls around her say she's got it coming
But she gets it while she can

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back Loretta, go home

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back, get back

Songwriters: John Lennon / Paul Mccartney

There's an error in the 1st verse..."bought" some California grass... Not "for"... It's modern...

Also on the 1967-1970 "Blue Album" The jacket lyrics for Penny Lane read: " We see the banker sitting waiting for a "trend" rather than "trim" Who did the jacket lyrics!

Lyrics on LP inner sleeves were notoriously wrong on many occasions back
then... not just The Beatles. I assume people transcribed them by ear
and regional accents threw them off. <shrugs>

I still find it hard to digest that some people *still* think it's
Loretta Modern!!!

Loretta Modern makes much more sense in line with the lyrics. Even it that's not what Paul meant (open for debate, it seems), my vote is on modern.
And don't forget, There's a Bathroom on the Right"

Sorry, it's just not. Never was anything like 'modern'.
