For all you Wilburys fans out there, there are three new releases :
First of all, a new CD-single with She's My Baby (from the Vol. 3 album),
and two unreleased cuts : an instrumental version of New Blue Moon, and a
cover of Del Shannon's Runaway (Rumor had it that Del was supposed to
replace Roy Orbison after his death, until Del himself committed suicide.
Maybe it's the Wilburys way of paying tribute). Also there are two new albums:
Travelling Wilburys Volume 2 (Yes, 2) and Handle With Care. Both are
seperate LPs, I don't believe CD versions are available (Yet !).
If you alreday have either or both of these albums, you might be able to help
me answer a few questions I've come up with since first hearing them (see the
end of this post !)
Both albums contains demos from the Volume 1 sessions and are identical
on side 1, but have different tracks on side two.
The track listings are as follows :

Side 1
Last Night
Congratulations
Dirty World
Rattled
Heading For The Light (Instrumental)

Side 2
VOLUME 2 HANDLE WITH CARE
End Of The Line End Of The Line
Handle With Care Handle With Care
Assholes On Parade (by Timbuk 3) Knock On Wood *
Handle With Care ** Honey Don't *
End Of The Line ** Blue Suede Shoes *
Twist And Shout *

* Live Performances by the "Silver Wilburys" : George, Bob, Taj Mahall,
Jesse Ed Davis, and John Fogerty (Running Water Wilbury on the album)

** These are remixes from 12 inchers or promos that came out when the singles
were released.

Overall quality is pretty good, though not great. Rumor has it the demos
were recorded in Dylan's garage. I'll buy that. Sounds like a drum machine
(or Rhythm Box as John might say 8-) in the background. End Of The Line is
interesting as they don't seem to fully have the lyrics down pat yet, and there
are some alternate lines. Also, the "End of the line" chant is missing from
the end of every line in the chorus.

Questions : I haven't heard Volume 2, but I know that the "demo version"
of Handle With Care on the HANDLE WITH CARE LP sounds quite similar to the
released version, possible (to these ears) they are the same take. Is
this the same version as on Volume 2 ? Is this really a demo, or did
someone just put the single version on the album ?

I've heard of a video and CD of "The Silver Wilburys", does it contain
more tracks than the above 4 live cuts ? If so, what's on it ?

Lastly,...HOW DID TIMBUK 3 GET ON THERE ??????? 8-) 8-)

Last Lastly, for the Wilburys poll in r.m.b. : Persons I'd like to see
in the Wilburys : Dion (from the Belmonts - check out his last solo album
on Arista !!!), Carl Perkins, John Fogerty, and...going out on a limb for
this one...DONOVAN ! Somebody said Robbie Robertson...that might be
interesting...

All the best,
-Scott

There was a UK release of this. Are you saying there is a US release as
well?

You should mention that these are bootlegs. I'd be interested in
hearing if anyone has seen them on CD.

I think the 'Silver Wilburys' CD is a waste of money- it is awful. Here
is a review:

Live! The Silver Wilburys
SWP 87-2 Made in Korea "Promotional" 62:17 playing time

George Harrison, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, Taj Mahal and Jesse Ed
Davis live at the Palamino Club Feb. 1988. Dylan contributes
guitar and sparce backup vocals. The whole performance is very
rough. Be warned.

Farther on Down the Road
Matchbox
Knock on Wood
Midnight Hour
Honey, Don't
Blue Suede Shoes
Watching the River Flow (Harrison vocals)
Proud Mary
Johnny B Goode
Hand Jive
Peggy Sue
Dizzy Miss Lizzy
Lucille
Twist and Shout

Re: Wilbury Outtakes

The video runs about 2 hours, and contains the complete jam session.
The CD contains only the complete songs performed that evening, the sound is
good, but not great.

Total running time: 62:17

1) Farther on down the Road
2)3) Matchbox
4) Knock on Wood
5) Midnight Hour
6) Honey Don't
7) BLUE SUEDE SHOES
8) Watching the River Flow
9) Proud Mary
10) Johnny B. Goode
11) Hand Jive
12) Peggy Sue
13) Dizzy Miss Lizzy
14) Lucille
15) twist and Shout

My personal choice for a new Wilbury is George and Ringo's good friend: (no,
not THAT ONE) Carl Perkins. He seems to fit well in the Wilbury mode, and I
would love to hear them all doing some of Perkins' unique Rockabilly sound

No, my apologies on being fuzzy on this. I do not believe a US version
has been released, only a UK version. BTW, the new video for
Inside Out is now being shown (in the US !).

Yes, they are boots, and no, I don't believe they are on CD. If anybody
has different news (Doug ? You still out there ?), please post.

All the best,
