Anyone can legally alter Wikipedia. That's the way Wikipedia works.

Actually, that's not unusual for them. If a page is often vandalized, or
if someone posted non-factual material_Say, "I hate Yoko. She's a
horrible, untalented person and should have been shot instead of
John"-it would have been locked according to well-established policies
that they have. Additionally, every biographical page about a living
person points out that as such, care must be taken to ensure that the
material on the page is well-sourced and not libelous. Any material,
either positive or negative, will be taken down from Wikipedia if it
isn't factual or doesn't have a valid source. You might hate Yoko and
think she has no talent, or that she wouldn't have been known if not for
John, but those aren't facts so they have no place in Wikipedia. If
that's the conclusion that you came to because of your reading about
John, that's what they call "original research," which also has no place
on Wikipedia.
