Sounds reasonable.
If the background noise that you hear was a technical glitch, it'll
disappear. If it was, say, chair noise created during the recording,
then it'll stay.
Understand the m.o. of the project: anything in the studio that was
captured on tape will remain; anything that was the result of a tape
glitch, mic pop, or technical buzz will not remain.
Well...there is a LOT of "background" noise in the SGT PEPPER
recording (and the rest of the recordings too!)...deliberately
inserted by The Beatles, and the extraneous studio noise that occured
at the time of recording. I wouldn't let a little bit of "background"
noise disuade me from hearing these remasters. THAT is part of their
charm. There is even a website dedicated to these anomolies...

The remasters are magnificent.
Love that chair noise at the end of "A Day In The Life"!

How about the beeps at the end of "Girl"? They're still there, at least
in the stereo version (haven't checked the mono yet). I'm sure it was
originally an unintended glitch, not secret morse code or anything.

Wow, I never listened for beeps at the end of Girl. Will do so now.
What always impressed me is that they played a guitar like a
bouzouki. It's got such a wonderful Greek feeling to it.
Beeps? You sure you're not thinking of "Drive My Car?" :)

At 1:53 in the stereo version of "Girl", a little easier to hear in the
mono version.

If they didn't remove the beeps from "Drive My Car" then I'm not
buying the remasters. :-p
I hope they didn't mess with the *transmission*?
