I am trying to figure this one out.
I know Chrysalis owns some of "George Martin's producer mastering
rights", but I am not clear on what that means. I thought the
producer worked as "for hire" and did not receive royalties. Am I way
off base?

PS. I apologize for "double posting", but there seems to be no
interest in the generalized RMB, so I thought I'd try here.

I've never heard of "producer mastering rights" and a quick Google
search came up with nothing.
I do know that there are arrangements whereby producers get paid a
certain percentage of sales, rather than be paid up front. Perhaps this
is what is being referred to.
George Martin has said in interviews that while at EMI he only made
his regular salary. I don't recall what his deal was once he left EMI
and started his own company.
