Wow!
Thanks, saki!
It is very strange that Alistair Taylor would lie, but there are
people who live to steal the fame of others, I guess.
Raymond Jones is one of the beautiful pieces in The Beatles history
that make the story so special!
What a wonderful revelation in interview!
Wow. Great article. I KNEW Raymond was out there somewhere. if only he
could find that record, he could retire in style. Assuming he'd ever
want to part with it again...

Allegedly. :-)
More than 21 years ago (June 1989) I posted about Mr Jones and the
discussions about his existence, or otherwise.

The article to which saki provided a link is indeed persuasive, and I
guess we'll have to wait and see what Mark Lewisohn makes of it in his
forthcoming book.
Mark is the sort of guy who will not take anything at face value, and in
order to check that this is really Raymond Jones will typically check
contemporary phone books and Electoral Rolls etc. Quite how he'd prove
that this Mr Jones is THE Mr Jones I can't guess.
If it turns out that he is genuine, then some of the points I raised 21
years ago change in their nature. Given how close Brian's shop was to
the Cavern, and how he (Brian) had been stocking (and writing for)
Merseybeat for a few weeks, and how MerseyBeat was little more than Bill
Harry's fanzine for The Beatles, how come he (Brian) had not "noticed"
them up to that date. Now that really is most odd.
