I just heard Favorite Mistake. I don't think that is a song you
would write about a friend.

I was trying to say that I DON'T think the song was about Jakob. I think it was
about someone who did her and won't talk to her now. Sheryl Crow and Jakob Dylan
are supposed to be friends. You wouldn't write this song about a married friend
would you? Are you mad at me? Maybe I should have phrased things better, I'm
sorry.

Then what do you think it is, a song you would write about a secret lover? Get
real, 1st off I don't think Jake would cheat. Secondly, *if* he did, him and
whoever he was having the affair w/ would know to keep it quiet, and not write
a freaking SONG that's the 1st single off a new album about it.

Ok, while we are on the subject of Sheryl Crow, I *must* tell my opinion of
her. Everyone should remember when she first came into the business. She was
this little goody goody small town girl that had the "girl next door" image..
Then, she dissapeared. Nothing uncommon for a musicain, esp. with the millions
of one hit wonders.. Low and behold, in a few years.. she emerges AGAIN, with
that "punk" look that she didn't succesfully pull off. In my humble little
opinion, an artist shouldn't change her act/look to what the music scene is
like. Sheryl does whatever other bands do. I wouldn't be surprised to see a
Sheryl Crow ska and/or swing album out. Anyways, in the next video, I think
it's everyday is a winding road, she returned to that little "girl next door"
stage. I just can't respect a person who doesn't stay true to her own music,
that doesn't stick to one main way of doing things. You won't see the
Wallflowers changing into hard rock metal bands, adding many peircings, spiked
and colored hair, etc.. Or see them adding horns and trumpets and cellos to
make a ska band. They stay true to what they are. They do not change thier
image/music to try to fit in the music scene. I personally don't care about
the little rumor about her and jakob. I honestly don't think jakob would do
that, but, i really dont' care. i'm in it for the music. i personaly think
that we should leave that to rest and pick up on topics that atcually have to
do with the band, not with "who jakob is dating, personal lives, etc.. " it's
about the music.. so can we please all stop acting like we are 10 years old,
get over the trival stuff, stop jumping on each other. If i offened anyone
saying things about the crow-women, sorrie, but it's my opinion, and everyone
is free to thier own. Ok, i did stray from the subject, and I know i
misspelled a few things. Whoops.

I don't know a lot about Sheryl Crow, but I do have to respond to this part
here..

>Then, she dissapeared. Nothing uncommon for a musicain, esp. with the
>millions
>of one hit wonders..

I do know recording her 2nd album was tough, she got into fights w/ someone, I
think it was the producer. So i'm just saying that the 2nd album was more than
likely a rough album for her to record. Someone close to her, i guess they
worked together, killed himself, 1 of the main reasons was b/c of a remark she
made on Letterman about a song.

>You won't see the
>Wallflowers changing into hard rock metal bands, adding many peircings,

>and colored hair, etc.. Or see them adding horns and trumpets and cellos to
>make a ska band. They stay true to what they are. They do not change thier

I don't think she completley "changed her style of music". Even if she did, i
don't really care b/c I think her music is awesome, so do lots of others. And
lots of others don't like her music. Oh well, that's b/c humans have "a
difference in opinion". Sometimes ppl need to remember that, & no, i am not
referring to anyone here. at least, i don't think anyone is that way here,
which is 1 of the things i like about this newsgroup more than the others, ppl
seem to respect others difference in opinion.

While on this "changing the style of music" topic, let me give you my opinion.
(I know, you're all thrilled.)

I couldn't agree with Deanna more in saying that it's so hard to respect an
artist that does not stay true to themself. But on the other hand, it's very
admirable to see one that has the ability to be diverse in what they play/sing.

So generalizing (I don't know NEARLY enough about Sheryl to direct this
torwards her), it takes so much determination to enter the music scene, if one
didn't have a good sense of who they were, they probably wouldn't make it very
big. It would be pretty ridiculous to put your heart into something, and then
realize that it wasn't what you really loved. Therefore, we can assume her
music wasn't fake. It did come from her heart. She was being herself. Like her
or not, you have to respect it.

As far as her changing styles, perhaps I should make mention of the fact I am
not anything like I was 3 years ago. With my life, my taste in music changed
drastically. In the time she lay dormant from the public eye, it's logical to
assume she changed. A bit at least, if not a great deal. And if this be the
case, would it not be wrong to say she would be untrue to herself, to play the
SAME style/kind of music she origionally was?

So that's all I have to say for now. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again
if each and everyone of you doesn't agree with me on this... j/k.

Dianne

P.S.- I greatly appologize for the many run on sentences in this post. It's
late, and I'm going on nothing but a caffeine high, and WF concert
anticipation.

i totally understand what you mean about changing to fit the scene...
i really like sheryl crow, but it seems not many people here like
her...which is fine...so i'll stop talking about her...my whole point
was that jakob doesn't cheat...and i was kidding when i said i thought
that her new song was about jakob...i just meant that it sounded like it
cause that's all anyone ever talks about anymore and that what was on my
mind at the moment...
sorry if i am getting off topic...
i hope i didn't offend anyone

I think it's kinda funny how we all think about the rumor between jake and
sheryl when we hear "my favorite mistake." The first time I heard it, the
thought "it could be about jakob" went to my head immediately. But its also
kinda scary that our brain have so much wallflowers stuff scrunched in
there, that we think about them in any silly situation.
Just a thought.

Well, I do have a couple of close contacts that *have* spent time with the
band (though this has proved futile as far as ME getting to meet them so
far). From what I understand, Jake's personality is alot different than the
somewhat detached, aloof one he puts on in public. I've heard he's quite
warm and friendly and willing to sit and talk for hours about anything. Of
course, I haven't met him so I can't state it for fact. Just thought
someone might be interested.

Yes, that's totally true. Jakob could be 1 of my closest friends, but that
doesn't nessacarily mean he would tell me. So stop reponding to this post, &

sometime in september...it could be something new or old or whatever...
and if anyone has the excess baggage soundtrack...please help me out...i
know one headlight was in the movie but the soundtrack listens don't
have song titles or artists...it has like parts of the movie, i guess or
something...that made no sense...but i was wondering if it was all
