About 7:40 AM, Tuesday, July 22, 2003 on the KTLA Morning News (KTLA Channel 5
Los Angeles, California), MEAT LOAF talked about his old album for Motown
titled Stoney and Meatloaf. About "Stoney" Meat Loaf said "Her name is Cheryl.
She lives out here in The Valley." THERE WAS NO MENTION OF LITTLE FEAT.
Stoney (Shaun Murphy born: Cheryl Murphy)
Meat Loaf (born: Marvin Lee Aday)
1971 LP Stoney and Meatloaf on Rare Earth (Motown)
And I don't think "she lives out here in The Valley". Last I heard,
she lives in Nashville. So what's he know?
meat loaf does not seem to know she goes by shaun and sings in little feat
However Meat's 1998 "The Very Best Of" and his 1999 "Storytellers" CDs both,
in the CD booklets, gave special thanks to "Shawn Murphy". Now I know that
is incorrectly spelt but I assumed he must therefore be aware of her
"current name".
But I have never seen any interview or other evidence that he is aware that
she is a member of Little Feat
This post is for anecdotal purposes only, not intended to be a
reference source:
I was just at the farmer's market in Royal Oak, MI a couple of hours
ago, wearing a Feat shirt. A woman saw it and mentioned that she has
been friends with "one of their singers" for about 30 years. Anyway,
according to this woman Shaun was born Cheryl, called herself Stoney
for a while before changing her name to Shaun, and is originally from
metro Detroit before moving to LA, then back to Detroit, and is now
living in Nashville. I'm not trying to make a point here, but I
thought it was a big coincedence considering that I've been following
this thread the last couple of days.
BTW, this woman does not know Bill's wife, whom is also from metro
Detroit (ass-uming they're still married).
