East Tennessee. The NC line is about 45 minutes east, the VA line is
30 minutes north. All three were bombarded. Pics taken Dec. 19th.

I should add it hasn't warmed much since (9 degrees a couple nights
ago) and that it snowed again last night.

It's all good for me, I'm basically retired in the winters.
This all started on Friday Dec 18th and my wife had to park
almost 3 miles away due to traffic that got backed up
for hours. Many people simply abandoned their cars in the
road. Luckily she was off for the next two weeks. She wasn't
good fireplace company that first night. Especially after
walking two hours in the snow, and the power going off for
two days an hour after she got home.

We're entering record low territory down here, that was the point. We
drove north to see snow and failed, returned to sunny S. Florida and
have threats of sub-freezing weather.

Yeah, there's that. It's been a long time since I actually stopped in
Atlanta, but I pretty much give it a yearly flyby. Underground used
to be cool, but I hear not so much any more. Atlanta looked great
from the top of Stone Mountain, btw...

St. Pete is a nice place to visit and retire to. The West Coast is
rapidly becoming god's waiting room. OTOH, it's a lot lower key than
the East Coast. My folks have a condo in Bonita Springs and it's a
great getaway off season...

Of all the pain in the ass that went with camping in 35 degree
weather, it was completely worth it for a day in the (fake) snow. My
kids have never seen it before, and it was real for all intents and
purposes. We went a couple of days after xmas so it was probably as
crowded as it was gonna get and it was fine.
The tubing area was fun, but you had to wait in line and they really
didn't think the exit strategy out too well. In the two hours we had
to use it, we went down probably 6 times, but that included a little
snow play for the kids in between.
All in all I'd recommend it. Oh, and you aren't allowed to have
snowball fights. That said, the snow police almost kicked me and my
friend's son out...

Actually it sounds a lot like down here. The council member reminds
me of this Fitzroy Salesman character we have down here. Only he
doesn't just do the corruption thing, he also ran from the cops while
he was driving drunk and pulled a gun on a kid waiting in line at a
grocery store. Ya gotta love island people...
