20 states to petition the White House for permission to secede
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57548572/states-petition-to-secede-from-union/

Petitions have been filed on behalf of 20 states: Alabama, Arkansas,
Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan,
Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina,
North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

It's misleading to imply that this list consists of "states", seeing
as the petitioners are a microscopic percentage of each state's
population.

But I say: great! Let's get a list of all these whining morons and
send them on their way. Let them establish their New Confederacy. The
sane and intelligent will then kick back and watch as these dopes fail
and then come crawling back to us. Or even better, perhaps we'll see
the New Confederacy deteriorate into a redneck version of Lord of the
Flies, and they can start wiping each other out.

Not yet, 10 more states signed today. If the White House's website is
right, it only takes 24 thousand signatures before they have to
address the issue. According to the report this morning, Texas alone
has already gotten more signatures than that.

Exactly. A small handful of nuts doesn't equate to the majority
wanting to secede. Secede whining has been going on since America was
born and this has nothing to do with Obama being in the White House.
Killer just can't step out of that bubble.

I wish these loud mouths would grow a spine and follow through on
their threats to leave the country or form their own nation. It would
raise America's collective IQ and less people would be leeching off
our gov't.

The majority of Texans don't want to secede. There's a small handful
of nutjobs that live in Deliverance Land that can't stand a black man
being in office.

By the way, it's projected Texas will become a blue state by 2020.
Dallas county is already blue.

It's fascinating to see how the righties are losing their shit over
this election. The left has it's "moving to Canada" whiners, of
course, but nothing matches this secession thing. Truly hilarious,
and very revealing re: how "patriotic" they are.

And then there are the people tweeting about assassinating the
president. All toothless "threats", of course, (just like someone in
RMAK posts) but so incredibly stupid.

Now that we've seen Hannity jump on the immigration reform bandwagon,
and "Shit-Eating Grin" Kristol stating that raising taxes on
millionaires is not a bad idea, I wonder how long it'll be before
they're branded "librul traitors"...

Yeah. Why? It's a joke. Anyone can file the petition, anyone can sign it,
even if they don't reside in that state. There's no checking for multiple
entries from one computer, either.

Regardless of what you would like to believe, this isn't a mass uprising of

AJ, have you read some of those petitions? They border on the hilarious, and
it's obvious that a lot of them are people just getting in on it.

I filed one to make cats the rulers of the US, and it got 846 signatures
before they deleted it. :-D

My only point really is just showing how more divided we are growing.
Hence the title of this thread. Plus, I wanted the liberals to
respond and show just how much they don't care about our division in
this country. And I wanted them to mock more of our citizens while
pretending to want more people being equal or tolerated. How much
worse does it have to get before you guys realize he isn't a good
leader and has hurt this country more than helped it? How many more
people need to lose their jobs? How many more businesses need to shut
down? How many more years does this great country have to beg another
country for more money? How much deeper are we going to let them dig
that hole/debt? How many millions more need to be dependent of the
government to throw them some crumbs instead of giving them the
opportunity to help themselves? How many more years before you come
running back and begging us to save you from yourselves? How is
voting for and supporting a man that fails on his own promises and his
own policies a victory? When will you start demanding he takes
responsibility for the job you gave him?

Your "side" is to blame for that. Who is it in here that constantly
chirps about wanting a second civil war so he can "kill libruls"?

AJ, if you're not with it enough to see that the criticisms you listed here are either A) not true, or B) an accurate description of conservatives, then there's nothing that can be done to help you.

In fact, you have shown time after time after time that no amount of facts or logic can penetrate your preconceived ideas. Take this one tiny example out of millions you've given us: Nate Silver.

We tried to explain to you that this guy knows what he's doing. That it's not about him personally being liberal that made him accurately predict the last three elections (even the R's big win in 2010). It's because he's a math brainiac who knows how to do this stuff. I suck at math personally, but I know enough to understand when someone else doesn't, and to respect their ability.

You don't get that. Your reply was to call him a faggot and cling to two national polls, Gallup & Rasmussen, which supported what you wanted to happen. You passed over better, more reliable information in order to stay with what you wanted, liked, and what felt right in your gut, and you got burned for it. This one example serves as a pattern for how you interpret most of the world around you. You align reality to fit with what you want, not what it is. We all do that to a certain extent, but you are positively scary at it.

You're incorrect here - Texas is one of the few (18) states that
"give" more than they "get''.

I love how the HOOD RATS think my state is on their "side". Far from
it. If you look below the surface you will see that Texas is becoming
more and more "liberal" as the years go by. This is a state where
Hispanics are becoming the majority (if they haven't already) and the
black population is growing as well. The good ol' boy mentality is
still loud here, but not in places like Dallas or Austin, which tells
you where this state is headed. Those cities, esp Dallas, hold a lot
of clout in the state. Times are changing and frankly for the better.
We still can't pick a sane governor to save our lives, but that too
will change.

The article requires a subscription to read beyond the first
paragraph or two. Someone in the comments section quoted from
the full article tho --

<from the same article>
"But a 2011 report by the Government Accountability Office found
that all 50 states received more than they paid from 2005 to 2009;
Texas got $1.03 for every dollar it paid in gas taxes."
------

Well now... how can this be? Easy really - the federal gov't
borrows 40 cents of every dollar it spends. So TX pays in
$1 cash and gets $1.03 back. BUT - 40 cents of that $1.03 is money
the gov't has borrowed from other sources <China, etc>.

So in actuality TX pays in a buck and gets back only
60% of the <cash> money THEY sent to Washington. The rest
is borrowed money that, in the end, we are all responsible
for paying back. With interest!

The best results I've found for this reflect a 20 year period
from 1990-2009. It shows TX as having paid a 'surplus' of
$389 BILLION dollars.

Yeah, it's weird...the article displayed fine for me the first time,
then was cut off the second...fine the third time. I dunno.

Anyway, it seems that Texas is now among the "takers"..albeit not by a
whole lot, but still. Personally, I find the whole "makers and takers"
meme ridiculous, but, ya know, as long as it's in play...just sayin'.
