Welcome to the KISS Geek Code v. 1.0!

Your a KISS fan, right? You think your the biggest fan of them all? Well,
let the world know how much your favorite band means to you! Use the
following code in your signature file. Silk-screen it on a shirt. Get it
tattooed on your arm. Or, just put it on your website.

This is a first run at this, so I would very much appreciate comments,
suggestions to add or subtract elements, or just a note to say "Hey, this is
cool!" or even "You have way too much time on your hands."

The Code:

Start the code by identifying it with an K1.0
The K is for KISS and 1.0 is the version number.

The Characters:

Use these modifiers with the character codes following:

--- Cannot tolerate this member of the group at all. Wish he was in a
different band.
-- Don't like this member of the group.
- Couldn't care less, but his playing is good.
0 No real feelings.
+ Like this member of the group.
++ Big fan of this guy.
+++ Go to the concerts just watch him, or them.

In addition to the above, add one of these where it applies:

> Want to be more like him.
{ Look like him. Add a M, if you only look like him when you have the
makeup on. {M
% Voice sounds like his.
# Voice doesn't normally sound like his, but I could do an impression.
& I don't look like him, but I can play like him.
* Behave like him
! Attracted to him.
~ Met him in person.

Gene Simmons: GS
Paul Stanley: PS
Peter Criss: PC
Ace Frehley: AF

{alternatively, to make your KISS Code shorter, you could group the original
line-up into the code: K-L1 (KISS-Lineup 1), with the appropriate symbol
following the K-L1}

Eric Carr: EC
Vinnie Vincent: VV
Mark St. John: MSJ
Bruce Kulick: BK
Eric Singer: ES

{or, to save space use:
K-L2 for Gene, Paul, Ace, Eric Carr
K-L3 for Gene, Paul, Vinnie, Eric Carr
K-L4 for Gene, Paul, Mark, Eric Carr
K-L5 for Gene, Paul, Bruce, Eric Carr
K-L6 for Gene, Paul, Bruce, Eric Singer
K-L7 for Gene, Paul, Ace, Eric Singer

So your KISS Code doesn't get out of control, you should really limit to the
characters in your Code to the necessary members that you want to express
your feelings about.

Other symbols that are nonetheless important:

For the following categories, you can use these modifiers in conjunction
with the code:

/ My opinion ranges between these two.
> I want to work towards achieving this.

Fandom:

f--- KISS fans are pathetic! They need to grow up and learn that real
music is the Backstreet Boys.
f-- The music is lame.
f- The concerts suck.
f No feelings about it.
f+ I pay attention to the KISS song on the radio.
f++ I have a few of the CDs
f+++ I have every CD
f++++ I have every CD and I have a massive collection of videos, figures,
shirts, etc... I know everything there is to know. I live, breathe, and
eat KISS.

Internet activities:

Mailing lists:

M1 - I am on 1 KISS e-mail list.
M2 - I am on 2 mailing lists.
M3 - I am on 3 mailing lists.
...you get the idea.

Newsgroups: ( Use this if you use the KAOL folder on AOL, or the KISS Asylum
BBS, and the like, as well.)

n--- KISS fans on the Net are the worse kinds!
n-- I post on r.m.a.k every day - to flame.
n- I don't subscribe to the group, now would I want to.
n No feelings about the newsgroup
n+ I read r.m.a.k messaes as often as I can
n++ I post only to a few messages at a time.
n+++ I contribute to every thread on the group. Eveyone in there knows who
I am.

Information on the web:

Begin this with a W: and combine the following: (ex: W:pwr@c)

f - I have a KISS FTP site
e - I run a KISS e-mail list
p - I have KISS pictures
s - I have KISS sound files
v - I have KISS video files
w - I have a KISS website
wr - I have a KISS related website (a site of your other interests, plus
some mention on KISS)
c - I am in KISS chat rooms.
@c - I run a KISS chat room. (or have ops in IRC rooms)

Cash:

Money spent on KISS merchandise/concerts (which is the best way to spend it)
during your life:

$ $0-20
$+ $20-50
$++ $50-100
$+++ $100-300
$++++ $300-1000
$+++++ over $1000

Favorite album:

Enter the first letter of each word in the title. For example: for "Rock
And Roll Over" it would be: RARO. For one word titles, use the first three
letters. Asylum = ASY
Alive 1, 2, and 3 is coded as:
A1
A2
A3

If you have a favorite song of the above album, or any album, add it like
this:
(ex:) RARO, "Odyssey"
(use quotes around the song title)

Personal:

Enter your gender and age.
M - male
F - female
(ex: M28)

If you want to give your year of birth, so you don't have to update it every
year - do so like this: M1973

By now, your code should look something like this:
(yes, this is mine)

K1.0 K-L1+++ PC{M& BK~ ES~ f++++> M1 n+/n++ W:pwr@c $++++ RARO, "Odyssey"
M1973

- Ed

What, the guy's idea was very clever. Not that I ever plan to use it, but
the guy obviously displays a bit of imagination. You, on the other hand, .

What type of "life" situation would one encounter that they would need to
use such a code?

I don't know. In what "life" situation would one need KISS makeup,
costumes, or a complete set of KISS figurines?

Have *any* of you boners heard of the concept of 'overquoting'...?

OK, think...

great way to identify Kiss fans in public. Let's say I visit Detroit, and I
don't know who's a Kiss fan. Glance at someone's jacket, hey, how are you?

this assumes not all Kiss fans wear their t-shirts 365 per year.

MUCH too complicated.

Keep trying.

Maybe you're trying to get too much info into it?

Okay, here's a liveable short form. See my autosig. Without intending to
make this longer, have you considered a way to show how long you've been a
fan?
