It's no secret that the KISS CD's - as well as 99% of ALL original CD's
were just taken from the LP master - and a lot of people seem to have a
real problem with this.
Here's the problem with the remasters: they are EQ'd so loud that the
music is distorted, and you get no seperation of instruments or vocals.
You all mistook them sounding "louder" for sounding "clearer".
I was listening to Hotter than Hell original and remsaster back to
back. Don't you people realize that the way the remasters were mastered
they were trying to make the old recordings sound more "MODERN"... so
that Hotter than hell would sound like Animalize?!?!
Stick with the original CD pressings. They are rare now.. very rare.
But worth seeking out.
Here's the thing guys.. the original CD's sound like the LP's that you
all loved and grew up with.
AND THE REMASTERS DO NOT. That's a fact. They do not sound the same as
the original LP's. The LP's sound like rock and roll, and the remasters
sound heavier, like metal. No doubt the sound quality is improved in
some places, and there's also no doubt that you can hear things that
you couldn't before, but the fact remains it's still a perversion of
the original LP sound. No doubt about it.
Then try cranking the remasters: the sound is horrible. Everything
seems to be at the same volume as everything else and mixes together
like a wall of sound. No depth at all.
Amen.
"There's no room in vulgarity for bluegrass."
--Steve Earle
And then:
> No doubt the sound quality is improved in
> some places, and there's also no doubt that you can hear things that
> you couldn't before.
So after all your conclusion is that the remasters sound better but still we
should go after the original CD's because they sound better too???
Well I'm lost here.

They're wrist merchants as we all can see
Bunch of deaf ears with their columnized fears
What a shame, what a shame, oh dear me!

>FYI: The original pressing of "Hotter Than Hell" on CD sounds NOTHING
>like the LP! Have you heard "Watchin' You" on the original pressing CD
>compared to the LP? The LP BLOWS it away!!!!
I've never heard HTH on vinyl...need to track that down sometime.
On a similar note, I don't know how the current CD sounds, but after
listening to Led Zeppelin II on vinyl, there's just no comparison.
The first run of that CD doesn't even come close.

"If you wanna hate us, GOD love ya' if you wanna love us, that's great
someone actually has to want something for it to be considered rare.
the dirt in my yard is as old as the planet, is it considered "rare" as
well.
or should I get the remastered dirt, what was you point again?
how many beers did you have before you thought this was worth a debate, or
did you just
climb out of a cave and not realize this debate died years ago.
if the original cds are rare, I have them ALL make my an offer.

The CD was a copy of the LP master, therefore it should sound very
similer to playing the LP (less the physical problems like scratch and
ticks)
c'mon=even the lick it up remaster sounds way better than the original
cd release...same with the 1st KISS lp...
why would you say they tried making hotter than hell sound like
animalize=no matter how much tweaking was done in the studio=that would
never happen=plus the original animalize cd sounded just as crappy as
the cassettes...out of all the 80's releases, that one needed the most
work..
the hotter than hell remaster=i must say doesn't have much change in
it=only that it's "louder", too...
