Okay, so, maybe I haven't read all the liner notes yet, but...

On Sweet Pain, in the album portion, that solo is totally different from
what I remember, however, the later version - that's labeled 'original
solo' - is slightly more like the one I remember - but, not 100%

Whos doing the 'original solo'? - and why are the takes different with
none matching the original version?

What am I missing?

Without knowing who played what, I prefer the one that ends on that
really high note.. that's just good phrasing to me. (Track 11)

Track 11 is Ace's original version that wasn't on the original 1976
release of Destroyer.

But, the solo on track 11 is closer to what was released in the '70's.
I'm still not clear as to who recorded the solo we all know on the
original album...

In article <k1lkkn$ddu$1...@dont-email.me>, cab...@nospam.com says...
I always heard it was Dick Wagner

You guys are all wrong. It's one of the many flubs Mercury messed up on this. Track 6 on Destroyer Resurrected is THE ORIGINAL Ace solo just discovered by Ezrin. Track 11 is the Dick Wagner solo you've heard your whole life on the original release. They accidentally switched the 2 tracks making it ultra confusing. So, tracks 6 is actually track 11. They misprinted it....get it?

Mercury didn't release this version. Track 11 on my copy isn't the
same version I've heard all my life and is the new Ace version.

WOW! Then I must have something special. Clearly, on mine, track 6 is the newly discovered Ace solo (which isnt that great....bummer) and track 11 is the old Wagner version. I wonder if there are mistake copies and corrected copies floating around then?

I think there may be if all the other fans that are leaving reviews
are being honest. I do hear the flub on Youtube of the Flaming Youth
track, but I don't hear it on my CD. But I also wonder if some of
these flubs other fans are pointing out, if they were always there and
we never noticed until we heard the songs this clear and enhanced.
I'm noticing drum fills on this version that I never noticed before,
but were always there.
