We did our first gig last weekend. I gotta tell you, there's NOTHING like hitting
the stage and playing "All American Man" and "King of the Nightime World".

I'm curious to see what kind of a crowd we start to get - but this is definitely a
labor of love for me.

For those interested - here was our setlist:

Starchild - Harrisburg, PA 6/18/11

Love Gun
Psycho Circus
King of the Nightime World
Do You love me
Got to choose
Tonight You belong to me
All American Man
Calling Dr. Love (tribute to Gene)
Makin' Love
I want You
Shout it out Loud
Lick it up
Rock and Roll all Nite

I think you need a FB account to view these pix, but, it's the only place I have
them right now.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2140440438922.2132415.1483515499

And please - if you are so inclined - stop by the site and "like" us.

Appreciate it!

I'm guessing that you'll draw a 40-something crowd of drunk dudes who
sing along on the chorus and play air guitar. Hell . . . who ever
knows what kind of audience will show up for a tribute band? Are you
wearing a silicone plug in your right ear? It'll help you get the
sound "just right" . . .

Good Luck with your endeavor,
Lulu ; )

Here's a interesting Paul Stanley website ~

Speakin' of Kiss.....I never knew that "Kissin' Time" off the first
album was a cover. Its a Bobby Rydell song from the late 50s. Who-da
thunk it....

I was in the store grabbin' a couple beers and it was on their
sattelite radio. I hadda stop for a sec and think....hey....I've heard
this before...albiet rocked up a little.

It didn't happen... I played it like a man :)

Have to say... It's fun. Just focusing on the music, and not gimmicks is almost a gimmick in itself.

the actual music. Sometimes it's better just to strip everything down and
just play.

Nice pics but there is no 'Like' option. I see a few have done so, but
that is probably those on the 'Friends List' of Sharon. You should create

Well, it's Kiss material sung by him - and some of his stuff. It's pretty
interesting to separate his songs from the Simmons songs - You get real
perspective for their writing styles.

Heh. Yeah, I know about the Tele thing. "Image". Don't wanna look
country. At least that's how I saw it for decades, until I got old enough
not to care any more what I LOOKED like playing a guitar. So I finally went
out and bought a used Am. Std. Tele. I love it! Much more so than my
Strat. Such a versatile guitar for something so simple.

That's not it at all. I played country for years - and go to Nashville every 6
months!

You're talking to a guy with an Ovation solid-body! :)

I just don't like Teles. Simple as that! As for Firebirds/Thunderbirds - too
neck heavy!

You just had the wrong Firebird! My first real guitar was a non
reverse firebird....those are the kind I like...very SG like but still
with a cool factor and killer P-90s.
As far as Teles...I used to think they were only country too. I had a
pre CBS which I sold in the 80's. The guy I sold it to was a pro jazz
musician, he came to my house and blew me away playing fantastic jazz
guitar on that thing. So I truly believe a Tele can do anything.
And those Ovations were always cool too!Never owned one though.

I never thought they were too country. I cut my teeth on Raven, and Mark Gallagher
always played a Tele - they were as metal as it got back then.

I'm not getting your connection between a Firebird and an SG - Can you post a
picture?

PS - SG's are another model I can't stand. I gave away my '78...

>So I finally went out and bought a used Am. Std. Tele.  I love it!

Hmm, I'd like to have a Tele. I wouldn't mind having one with a B
bender either, I like some country music.
Doesn't have to be country though. Page played one early on. Keith
Richards. Springsteen too, although I don't care for his stuff.

I've got a Firebird but I've hardly played it. For two reasons:
1) It's too big, it's about the size of a frigging bass
2) It's expensive and it's in mint condition. I'm afraid to play it,
it's too nice :)
If I muck up the finish I might lower the value. I'm actually
considering selling it.

The reason I bought it originally was I was wanting another Gibson and
it seemed like a quirky choice:
Neck through body, reverse headstock, banjo tuners. Kind of weird for
a Gibson.

The reason they are SG like is...thin all mahogany guitar with set
neck just like an sg....about the same weight as an SG....just feel
and respond the same way. Where a Reverse Firebird is a very very
unusual feeling and neck heavy guitar....totally different feel, one I
personally did not like.

define "anything".

You're not going to get Black Sabbath or Motorhead out of a
standard-equipped Tele without some SERIOUS signal processing.
Even Page on Led Zep 1 doesnt sound like that.

It's not on display. It's in its case, in the closet.
When I bought it, I intended to play it. Once I got it, I became very
conscious of the fact that it doesn't have the slightest scratch or
ding in it.
So I've avoided playing it, especially since I have a lot of other
guitars to play.
I should probably sell it.

LOL. I can see how that could fall flat. But someone should at
least snap their fingers while doing a shaky moonwalk.

Or the guitar between the legs. I'm a huge Paul fan, but some of his onstage
moves are head scratchers.

Maybe so. It's like these guys that buy vintage cars and don't take
them out of the garage. I hate that. Yeah, my muscle car is kind of
a piece of shit, but I run the hell out of it and enjoy it. If it
were a concourse show car it would make me miserable.

But for guitars, I pretty much only buy used gear. I bought two brand
new guitars in my life and didn't like them until I stopped worrying
about battle scars...
