Below is many reliable sources and from the looks of things, Eric wasn't
even fired and his medical insurance wasn't cancelled. Even Gene and
Paul were advancing money to Eric Carr to help with medical bills.

As mentioned in our previous article, Was Eric Carr Fired?, we looked at
a recent online article that looked at whether Eric was fired from KISS
or not in 1991 before he died. In addition to this, we're having a look
at some recent KISS publications that look at those months 11 years ago
in the leadup to Eric's passing.
Incidentally, we recommend you check out the publications listed below
as well.

Dale Sherman's Black Diamond:
In one of his last published handwritten interviews that appeared in a
fanzine, Eric repeatedly asked, "Who says I'm too sick to play?!!" even
though the interviewer never once made reference to this question. When
asked finally if he had plans to leave KISS, Eric simply replied: "If
there are plans for me to leave KISS, they AREN'T mine!!!!". Even so,
Eric waited for the other shoe to drop.
By August [1991] rumors had begun to spread in fan circles and in the
rock magazines that Eric had been officially replaced by [Eric] Singer.
Rumors of a more volcanic nature also began to spread of the band
members wanting Eric to leave due to his ailment and the rise to their
group insurance rates, or that the cost of his treatment was digging too
deep into the pockets of the KISS Company itself. Whether such rumors
were true or not is of no consequence; in fact, both Gene and Paul were
privately advancing royalties to Eric from previous recordings to help
pay for his chemotherapy; just the fuel of them alone was enough to put
additional stress on Eric as he moved through recovery.
Sherman, D. (1997), Black Diamond: The Unauthorized Biography of KISS,
Collector's Guide Publishing Inc., Page 223.

Quotes and snippets from Curt Gooch's & Jeff Suhs' KISS Alive Forever:
Gary Corbett (KISS' offstage keyboardist during the late 1980's and
early 1990's) speaks about the "cancer-free" party held for Eric while
he was in LA for the God Gave Rock And Roll To You II video shoot:

"The night before the party," Gary Corbett explains, "Gene and Paul
called Bruce and told him that he couldn't go to the party because they
weren't going. The following morning they were going to have a meeting
to fire Eric because they didn't want to deal with the chance that he
would get sick again. I told them, they could have a replacement guy on
the road who could step in at a moment's notice, so how could they not
give Eric the courtesy? If he gets sick, then there's somebody to step
in. But to take it away from him because he might get sick is
ridiculous."

Gary Corbett moves on to state Eric's thoughts after he returned to New
York to continue recovering:

"Eric called me up," states Gary Corbett, "and he was really paranoid
asking, 'Are they going to fire me?' I told him to recuperate, relax and
just get better." Eric's uncertainty persisted, Corbett continues, "He
and Carrie went out to spend the day at Great Adventure and somehow he
got word that they were going to fire him. He called me up: 'They're
firing me! They're firing me!' Being in that band was his life; it meant
everything to him. The only thing he cared about was being the drummer
in KISS."

Gooch and Suhs (authors) move on to clarify Eric's status during the
summer of 1991:

Although Gene and Paul were committed to moving forward, which at least
by implication meant that Carr was to be replaced, to their credit, they
hesitated when it came to firing Eric, and he was never officially
fired. Throughout the latter half of the summer [of 1991], the lack of
communication between KISS and Eric left his status a hazy issue. It is
apparent that his status was not clearly articulated or even understood
by either party.

Gary Corbett speaks of the events following Eric's first brain
hemorrhage in September 1991:

"The family was not allowing KISS to know how Eric was doing, and they
[KISS] weren't allowed in the hospital. They still had not officially
fired him, because without Eric signing certain documents, he couldn't
officially be let go from the band. That's why Eric's family gave such
strict orders not to discuss his condition, because they thought the
band would find some legal precendent that would allow them to proceed
without Eric's signature if he was physically unable to sign it, which
he was. Without those documents, Eric was still covered by his health
benefits and was still getting his salary."

KISS' manager, Larry Mazer:
"There was no sensitive way to deal with it. There was no way that
anyone was going to come out of that looking good. There was no denying
the fact that Eric [Carr] was not going to be able to tour. It just
wasn't going to happen. We had no idea he was going to die, but we did
know that he wasn't up to doing a tour. A decision had to be made to
move on, and there was no good way of dealing with it."
Gooch, C. & Suhs, J. (2002), KISS Alive Forever: The Complete Touring
History, Billboard Books, Pages 196 & 197.

Carrie Stevens interview from Gene Simmons Tongue:
For years, Stevens was angry at KISS, for what she interpreted as an
abandoment of Carr during his illness. "I somehow had to blame somebody,
and it was easy to blame them, because they were still at the top," she
says now. "And I didn't have Eric anymore. I actually hated them so much
that I used to pray for them. I would pray for them to find love in
their lives.
"It worked. It melted away all my bad feelings towards them. And then
over the years I've bumped into them here and there, and in my own
journey after many years, I've been able to look back and say, 'Carrie,
he was very sick. He was dying. He wasn't in any shape to play the drums
anymore.'"
Appleford, S. (2002), Rock Starlet, Gene Simmons Tongue, Fall 2002, Page
60.

So there you have it. More accounts about those months in 1991 when Eric
Carr was very sick.
It is clear that there are many views and opinions about what happened
in the lead-up to his passing with regard to his status in KISS, and
there's most likely a whole heap of information regarding the matter
that fans are just not privy to.

Most people already knew that. There you go again, trying to make Gene
and Paul look good. I have come to the conclusion that you may indeed be
Gene Simmons.

This ng isn't about "news" and "info". What you get in here is a lot of bitter
fans (and rightfully so) who express their disgust with KISS today. They are
still fans, otherwise they wouldn't bother to express their opinions.

*No problem. Lets not forget it was the "fans" that started most of the
lies and rumors about Eric Carr's medical insurance being cancelled,
etc.

Great article A.J. It's funny that all those that were hellbent on
saying Gene and Paul fired Eric and cancelled his medical insurance
are all of a sudden quite now. I was surprised to read that Gene and
Paul were advancing money to help Eric pay for his bills. I hope this
puts the nail in the coffin (no pun intended) to all the rumors and
lies that many here were spewing.

It was proven sometime ago that "Revenge" IS AJ. So of course, he's going to
complement himself.

An article to "prove" how nice Gene and Paul are and that they would never fire
Eric Carr.

How about 3 books that prove you were wrong? Don't piss on Eric Carr's
grave by calling his family and friends liars. Do you have any proof
that Eric's family and friends are lying? I didn't think so.
