Why do we hate Mike Love?

thing there was that long rambling diatribe posing as as an acceptance speech
at the R&R Hall Of Fame in '88. Then there's the fact that he likes to smear
the success of "Kokomo" in Brian face. There's also his cornball on-stage
patter at Beach Boys concerts. He's a womanizer too...but then so was Dennis
and to an extent Brian. He's also kind of pompous and arrogant. So, yes, there
are many many reasons to not like Mike. And it's also pretty funny to poke fun
at the guy.
But as far as the lawsuits have gone I really don't think Mike has done
anything unreasonable. He sued Brian because he was cheated out of millions of
dollars in songwriting royalties. But then who else was he gonna sue? It isn't
like he was out to get Brian. He was just out to get what was legally his and
unfortunately he had to go through Brian to do it. He also sued Al Jardine.
Actually he fired Al during the making of SUMMER IN PARADISE for reasons I have
never been exactly clear on.
But as far as suing Al again I don't think Mike did anything really
unreasonable. After all Al was billing his band as BEACH BOYS FRIENDS & FAMILY
while Mike, Bruce, Adrian Baker, John Cowsill, etc. were touring as the BEACH
BOYS.
If you were a promoter wouldn't you be a little confused?
Why can't we all be more like the late Dennis Wilson and say, "I love Mike
love!"

.....umm, because he's a no-talent dork poser whose on-stage antics are
extremely embarassing, a woman-hater and probably violent with them, and
someone whose brush with success early in life was predicated 100% on
the talents of his cousin brian, without whom he would be pumping gas
somewhere in LA?
just a guess....
c'mon. mike love is soul-less fool. stupid and inarticulate, to boot.
virtually anyone who can hit pitches accurately could have easily filled
his shoes as a beach boy. can you say that about brian or, for that
matter, any of the wilson boys?
none of these are necessarily reasons to _hate_ him....but i would not
cross a busy street to break bread with him either. simply no interest
in him or anything he may have to say. i would, however, pay $100,000
cash money to see him levitate.
