Hi/Hola,

I'm looking for info about the Dominican merengue group Las chicas del
can, currently also known as Michelle Flores y las chicas. Anyone who
can tell me about the history, and biography of the band and it's
members, or has lyrics or URL's which might help me: please write me
an e-mail. I would like to start a Chicas del can web site.

Bye/chao,

El Papasote

Well, since you asked here it goes...The way I remember it there was a can
lying on the shelf of a Dominican grocery store in Washington Heights, La
Capital away from LA CAPITAL. When along came a young woman by the name of
Michelle, who had a bouquet of flowers in hand that she had just bought.
Michelle happened to look in the direction of the store clerk, who was busy
dusting off the shelves. All of a sudden there it was. It was the most
beautiful can of Salsa de Tomate she ever laid her eyes on. It was green and
red with white lettering. She couldn't help herself! She picked it up and
knew from that instance that it was meant to be. She dropped it in her large
plastic bag and continued to look around. Eventually she left the store and
forgot to pay for it. So, out of guilt she threw away the contents of the
can. She told the story to a few of her girlfriends who came to visit and
even showed them the can. Then WHAMO! It came to all of them at the precise
moment! Collectively they decided to place the flowers in the can and presto
the legend was born, Las Chicas del Can...at least that's the way the told
it to the cops at the time of their arrest.

Brought to you by Platanos Chiquito (Not to be confused with Chiquita
Bananas!)

Arrested for a can of Salsa de Tomate?

Would my brother and I had gotten sent to juvie hall for denting the cans before
bringing them to the register for a reduced price?

Or for pocketing chocolate bars?

Sheesh...
