Hi! First post to this group, but I figured it'd be the place to ask.
I'm Kel, a sophomore at Goucher College in Baltimore. I sing with
Goucher's Red Hot Blue (more info bout us at
http://www.goucher.edu/rhb), and live in New York during the times I'm
not in school. I'm looking for a way to keep my skills up during the
'off-season', and keep singing during the summer. I had thought about
forming a group amongst some of my a cappella friends, but because of
some conflicts, there certainly aren't enough people to form a group
at the moment.

So, that brings me here; I'm looking for either an existing group to
join, or preferably some people who want to start a new group with the
intent on meeting and performing during breaks from school, mostly
summer. I know other groups have started this way and have enjoyed
considerable success, so I thought I'd try to see what I can do. If
there's anyone who's interested in doing this, let me know!
Preferably, i'd like to form an all-male group that's fairly serious
about rehearsing and performing, but frankly i'm more concerned with
just being able to sing with a group.

Anyway, if you're in the new york area, give me a holler and let me
know if you're interested!

I hope you find people man. I tried this for the socal area and we
didnt find too many people, but if you want to come down to socal, you
can round out the group we are starting down here.

I was actually curious about a similar concern... What is it that
other college students do in the summer, in terms of singing? I'll be
stuck on my campus in Newark all summer long, but I'd definitely like
to take the time out and do some singing.

By the way, I was the one who started the Highlander Sound in NJIT...
Hard as nuts. Performance isn't even anywhere near my mind. I didn't
know starting a group would be so hard. So maybe I'd also spend my
summer organizing that. But how can you organize a group when no one's
around?

Tough gig, this a cappella. But I love it so.

I'm optimistic; New York's a pretty big place with a lot of musicians.
Anyway, SoCal is a little far from new york for me ;) Good luck with
your group, though; starting a new group's a ton of work.

Ok well so far I've heard from two people who are interested; I'd like
to be a group of about 6-10 people, so I'd still like to find more.

Anyone else interested? If you're interested in singing a cappella
this summer at all and you're around NYC (including Westchester (where
I am), and north jersey and Long Island), let me know. The details
and specifics of what to sing, where to sing, etc can be figured out
later. I just want to get a group together!
