I could stand having one. Just for the inovations.
Nice, but this is the old Brit classic bike that I am holding out for:
http://www.realclassic.co.uk/panther030331.html
Beside, "Panther" sounds so much more ferocious than "Douglas!"
Oh sure everyone EXPECTS a panther to be ferocious<sic> nobody expects
ol' Dougie boy to kick everybodies ass...until it's all over but the
crying and new found respect for good ol' reliable Doug. ;^)
I hope to visit Blighty some day and see some of these
"old crocks" (as Albrecht put it).

This one is especially interesting as it shows the Royal Warrant.
That means the King of England himself bought one!
In 1930 the king was George V, a regal monarch very much on his
royal dignity. It would be funny seeing him perched on a motorcycle.

Um, no, not necessarily. Other senior members of the royal family, like
princes etc, also have one.
Prince Charles has one, so does Prince Philip and I'm pretty sure the
Queen Mum had one.

Does it bollocks.
All it means is that some particular royal household bought one -
possibly just to let the bootboy run into town for more shoe polish.
Devastator? Ferocious.
Douglas? Not.
Uh, yeah. Douglas DID design and build the Devastator...a flying
turkey if the navy ever bought one.
I was simplifying things; the OP is American after all.
The warrant explicitly says:
MOTORCYCLE
MANUFACTURER
BY APPOINTMENT
TO H.M. THE KING
SQ
This does not mean that the royal in question actually uses the product
personally. In this case the king could well have bought half a dozen
bikes for use by household messengers etc. Handing out a royal warrant
is just a good way of getting a big discount.

ICBW, but aren't our present princes Harry & William the only ones ever
to have shown a proper interest in bikes? Good on 'em, say I.
Depends on who you count as a royal. IIRC the Earl of Snowdon was keen
on bikes. I'm sure I remember a report of him doing a lap of the TT
course.

Sort of. Harry rides a 650 Daytona, IIRC. I mean who would even
bother with one of the smaller engined Triumphs, eh?

Is it going to visit a chicken?
"Just clipping the apex"
I hear you...they coulda moved those handholds over a coupla deci's
and he could then hang further on the left side...can't imaging
getting lower to the ground on road course (damn bumpy roads)
Open face helmet when riding monkey? Yeah that's just plane nuts,
stupid as hell also.
<raises hand boldly>
My by fucking ghods! Then again I find anything bigger than 999cc an
excuse for people with little dicks to make them look big. For me the
sweet spot is a 500cc 2-4cyl 2smoke (fuck you AGW beliievers) or a
600cc 4choke (4 to 8 cyl)
But then again I also think extraneous chrome and an exhaust that is
louder than 98db is proof those persons are compensating for a little
willy/small boobs or a shitty personality.
Before you ask, yes I've ridden both ends of that road. 8^) From my
lamented Jawa Trail 90 a pissant LS650 (the Jawa was faster) a shite
old T-500 (RD eater) my GL1000 and the wifes Ninjette (suprisingly
comfortable for a 1,300mi 24 hour trip) various other rides begged,
borrowed and such from friends etc. Sadly I can't bear to ride
anothers bike anymore...just can't.
Get off the bank!

Indeed. I reckon Jenks would have awarded a 10/10ths for that.
Oh reely? Look you little snot...that daytona is too damned big,
unless you've a little willy. Not only that but Kyle of Lochalah to
Truro 712 statute miles is a just a long 8-10 hour day (depends on how
many HPDA's and time you need to stop to piddle on the GATSO)
8^) NOW if you'd been obviously searching for stealth morons...say by
wiggle a fresh 500cc V8 well then, that's a whole different matter now
then.

Bollocks - that's rubbish. It would be impressive if he had a pipe on
the go.

Why? What is the big deal/fear factor with open face helmets?

Not wearing a full face helmet could cause a small child...oh hang on,
this record appears to be stuck :o/

He'd have to have a little castor on the bottom of the bowl - or perhaps

How would you know?
I suppose you could always book a spot in the chair when I decide to
get mine back on the road and we could take it for a whizz along a
couple of country lanes and see how high the chair lifts before it
flips right over. Burnt has always been quite good at that sort of
stunt so if you're feeling a bit worried go out in his first.
This from someone who considers it reasonable to hoist a 3cwt Ewok a mile
into the air using tinware, rivets and a glorified Beetle engine without
visible means of support.
Without visible means of support? I've got a fucking great wing.
Close observation, and putting the odd burning one out.

I shall, with respect, decline.

Only one? That's a problem, right enough.
Stupid bait from obviously an person of low class and no
intelligence...that or he's closet labour party.
Depends on the pipe and what was in the bowl, wouldn't you say?
Depends on the individual I'd say.
Obviously you are VERY misinformed...rather, they are trusting to a
fault.
There's lots of history and facts you don't know about or ignore.

Yeah right and you my dear cyanobacteria are even STUPIDER than

and that condecending tone is further proof that you look up to your

mind the little people like you looking up to me. 8^)
