We're still around. Our killfiles have grown so large that it takes a
long time to open rec.moto. We read. Sometimes we post.
Actually... I have a BOOK coming out in about a month.
_Gathering Speed - Tales of Motorcycles and Life_
by David A. Braun - Flash - DoD #412
Library of Congress # 96-95183 ISBN 0-9656176-0-2
I'll give more info when it is available. If you're hot to get a copy,
send me some email and I'll put you on the notification list. If you
want a preview... my web page has some of the Tales in their original,
unedited format, without photos. The Tales on my web page were "ripped
from the pages of rec.moto" back in the halcyon daze. The book has
several of those and more (200 pages worth). With about 90 photos, too.

See, that's what I mean by the standards of teh DoD dropping of late. Back
a few ears ago, your message would have hvae read 'Read the FAQ. Sorry,
don't have one? Here's a couple just for you.....'. This way, you're not
giving the guy a chance, now he'll probably reply with a message like 'OK,
thanks for your help' and he'll go off and do a Yahoo search on DoD FAQ and
download it for himself and email the KoTL (and I'm sick and tired of it),
thereby totally elimininating any poosible pleasure you could get from
mailbombing him personally.
I think the NGG now has higher standards than the DoD.................
I have been much too tied up milling a new brass coal feeder from my
Spagthorpe 650 Pug to keep up with the activities of the DoD as of
late. And once these bandages come off I'll get back onto figuring
out what I had wired up wrong in the oscillating magdyno that triggers
the six sparker coils on the inhalation stroke of the external combustion
engine... of course I'll have to smelt myself a new boiler for the steam
powered starter turbine since the bits of the last one still remain
embedded in my garage walls.
Out here in the SFBay area the DoD get together on Tuesdays for dinner
and entertainment of some sort. I go to a dinner when I can, but usually
I am about 10 years younger than everyone else, and I don't ride a dualsport
or tank-like outfitted BMW, so I tend to feel out of place.
My 'original' leather jacket is still hanging in my closet with the 'large'

Jonathan Jeffries, Mike Menard, Mike Johnson, Dave Wise & Gene Forrer were
the rest of the team. Jonathan is on the BMW list these days. I've lost
track of everyone else...
Most of us have fled for the relative sanity of the mailing lists which
have spun off rec.moto, given that the actual level of motorcycle talk here
is pretty much nonexistent. I check it once a day or so, but rarely find
anything worth reading, never mind posting about.

Well... the Colorado DoD has been busy planning a track day at Mountain
View Motorsports Park in Mead, CO. We've about two dozen showing up to
ride, three more showing up to instruct, one for doctoring, one for
bar-be-que-ing, one or two for videoing, and a few for still photos.
We are currently accepting applications for pit-honeys (& pit-hunks for
the female DoDers amonst us).
We're a bit more orgainized than the general rabble on rec.moto. We
could tell you WHEN it happens... but then we'd have to kill you.
This track event is in no way associated with the annual CODoD Ride 'n'
Feed (CODoDRnF) which takes place some time around Independence Day, the
DoD Right Coast Ride (RCR, about a week before), the DoD Left Coast Ride
(about a week later), or the DoD Great Northwet (Wetleather) Dryside
Gather and Spaghetti Fete (or whatever the heck it is called).
Yeah... the DoD is still around. But, some of us RIDE our bikes, too.

You may be in luck, Adny. Keith Gawlik (who did the license plates a

license plates.
Thats because you guys stole Alan Fleming from us!!! He organized all the
stuff around here and had the Cafe set up as a Regular Ace's Cafe type
place. He goes and leaves and everything goes to pot. Heck even our
resident spy up and left.
Just out of curiousity, hows the fishing around here? I haven't set a
line in years. Lists traffic just doesn't grow good fish. They are all
two smart for even the industrial strength bait.
Oh, we're still around. Most have buggered off to mailing lists, due to an
inablility to seperate the wheat from the (ever increasing) chaff on this
group.
Weenies.
Mike
--
Fishing around here has gone down hill. About the only way you can get
a fish now is to use some really smelly old bait and stick it in their
mouths and wiggle the hook around. Some times that won't even work, so
you have to throw a hand grenade in the pond and see what floats to the
top. Harley Spinners sometimes work, but you have to work them real
hard so the bottom fish will notice them. Not much sport in bottom fish
through, all they do is bite and hang on, not much fight.
It does make you wonder though, if the fish on the lists are too smart
to bite, and the fish here don't recognize bait...where are the sport
fish? Maybe they have formed their own lists.

Sorry, lad, but you meant "nervous facial TICS". A tic is an
involuntary muscle twitch (such as the one possessed by Data's
brother Lor); a tick is a bloodsucking mite akin to a Senator. I
dinna think even *Weaver*, poor as his hygiene habits are, has
those hanging off his face.
Then again...

Bah, to you both.
I have no ticks or leeches either on my face or elsewhere.
Bad hygiene.
Mr. Nitschke, my second will contact you shortly.
Mike
I'm kinda stupid that way.
It's all part of my inestimable charm.
Strictly speaking, you're kinda charming that way. Its part of your inestimable
stupidity.
Besides, he WOULD've fallen for the 7 Veils, if all 7 Veils had fallen...

Spelling flames, Laz? C'mon, you can do better than that, or at least
the Laz that had people voting for him for President could. How far the
