He's waiting to make a turn right across my path and he's stopped
part-way (about 1/3) into my lane. There's too much traffic
for me to shift lanes to the right, so I slow down, even though
I have the right-of-way... I don't want to scrape my paint.
I squeeze by him at a crawl, keeping an eye on both his front grill
and the traffic to my right, next to whose lane I have to edge
uncomfortably close.
When I'm almost past him I honk "Back off, dingbat". He honks back
"Fuck you, asshole!" at which I lean on the horn with "Learn to drive,
you stupid moron!" ...right then my horn button gets stuck in the ON
position, adding "Learn some fucking manners while you're at it!"
and some select expletives of its own. I finally free it up after
a block or so.
These cage horns can sure have an attitude.

No doubt he was just signaling dismay at your slow progress. I wonder
sometimes about these numbnuts. The space doesn't get any wider just because
you're going slower. If you're not sure you have the room, don't even try.
If you have the room, What the fuck! get on the gas.

......while waving! at least you were left a gap.......

No, but it gets easier to get through with less risk
of sideswiping his truck or getting sideswiped on my right.
> If you're not sure you have the room, don't

You mean stop? With traffic coming up behind me, composed of
drivers who use this route all the time and have become
conditioned to believe that they (and I) have the right of way?
The idiot has already put me at risk of a rear-ender.
Stopping makes it even worse... unless the traffic behind me
has time to react to my brake lights and (a few seconds later)
my 4-ways.
Sheesh, suppose some cager #2 does rear-end me, and then
cager #1 makes his left turn and vanishes on his merry way
leaving me to pick up the pieces.
So say I stop and wait for #1 to make his left turn.
Problem is, I'm blocking his view of traffic going my way
in the right hand lane, which creates another collision risk.
> If you have the room, What the fuck! get on the gas.
Didn't seem right at the time, and it still doesn't.

In fact, none of those happened, which leads directly to:

Look, nobody likes being second guessed especially by someone 2000 miles
away 6 hours later. Your telling of it is all I have to go on, and you
clearly had the room. So get off the horn and on the gas. Me! me! me! I
heard you say. What about the guy 4 cars behind you? He was stopped for sure
while you threw your little tantrum. All those bad things you itemized above
will happen to him, while you drive off oblivious still feeling smug, and
leaving him to pick up the pieces. All because you wanted to make a show of
it.
