I'm looking to get a new helmet. I've always used
Arai (RX-7RR3) but really like the Suomy and
Bieffe designs.

I like the GPR Bieffe and see that it meets or exceeds
DOT and Snell standards.

I also like the Suomy Gun Wind. Is it DOT and Snell
approved??

Are Bieffe and Suomy comfortable and light helmets?
Anyone with experience with either of these two
helmets?

Thanks,
dalton hamilton

They are ACU gold approved in the UK which I imagine is a similar
standard to any US standard.

Like I said ... " NOT DOT or SNELL APPROVED"
Which means - " No Ride 'em at the Track 'em "

Problem is that no matter what certification you have in the UK they have
to pass local standards. Here in Canada the standards are DOT for the
road and our racing organizations adhere to the current Snell
certifications. I could argue that ACU gold standards are similar but
unless the organization changes the acceptable standards to include ACU
gold it is like comparing apples to oranges.

I'm sorry, I wasn't suggesting that DOT and ACU approved were the same
thing. I was merely suggesting that they are quality helmets (that would
presumably get DOT and Snell approval if they paid for the helmets to be
tested). I thought the original poster was interested in the quality.
