Don't support the AMA if they don't support you. Demand your money back!

"The current AMA racing directors are
like a malignant, tumorous, cancerous growth on the AMA that
must be removed before it spreads any further and destroys the
greater good..."

First, I must assume that you have read the "Edmondson Vs The AMA"
article in its entirety and are completely informed about the
AMA Board of Director's actions.

If not, here it is:  http://www.roadracingworld.com/

You may not race, so you may not necessarily
understand the passion to which racers pursue motorcycle
competition. If that is the case, perhaps you should liken it to a motorcyclist's
passion for the open road. Some racers devote their whole lives
to the sport, yet even the most casual racer makes a huge
commitment when compared to life's other personal endeavors.

What makes me so angry, is the fact that THE AMA
WAS (IS) ESSENTIALLY WORKING TO SHUT DOWN HALF THE CLUB LEVEL
ROADRACING AVAILABLE IN THIS COUNTRY. In fact, all the racers in
my region were looking at the complete loss of roadracing in our
part of the Midwest if the AMA would have closed down the CCS. They were also attempting to buy out WERA at the same time. (that makes me shudder just thinking about it)

I do not see this as a case of poor judgment or an honest
mistake. When the AMA board saw fit to use MY AMA MEMBERSHIP
MONEY to coercively shut down the NASB racing series, and to
purchase an outstanding personal debt of Edmondson in order to
deliberately harass and financially bankrupt the CCS Roadracing
Series, it was an action bearing certain board member's PERSONAL
malicious intent. Plain and simple, it was not the action of a
non-profit motorcyclist advocacy group for the benefit of the
average motorcycle enthusiast. How in hell does this fit into
the spirit of the AMA’s stated mission, "To pursue, promote, and
protect the interests of motorcyclists." Someone must be held
personally accountable. Those responsible should and must RESIGN to restore confidence and integrity in the AMA. The AMA is not chartered or promoted as the AMA governing board's own private circus paid for by the rank and file rider. Their apparent greed over "job perk$" has completely gone out of control. So much so that a jury has made a 5 MILLION DOLLAR judgment against them in spite of all their high powered lawyers.

So there exists the sick irony.  Imagine, The AMA board is the one attacking my (and many others)
motorcycling interests
with, -now get this, -our own damn money!  Because of this fact
I completely and wholeheartedly state that, "I WILL NOT GIVE THE
AMA ANOTHER DIME OF MY MONEY TO HARM AND COERCE
MOTORCYCLE RACING ENTHUSIASTS, AND IN DOING SO, THE VIRTUAL
SPORT OF MOTORCYCLE RACING ITSELF."

In fact, I want my damn
money back and I'm telling them so!

Apparently, corporate puppets and opportunists control much of the AMA now and that's bad.  You may not race now, nor ever want to race in the future, but be fore-warned; someday you might find that your dues
are being used against you to promote another unfair AMA
policy of profit above the "American Motorcyclist" and that certain
individual's, private interest$ rise above you -the
rank and file member.  And once they successfully remove any
alternate means for you to attain your livelihood, your choices
will be completely gone...

CONFLICT OF INTEREST  - A conflict between the public
obligations and the private interests of a public official.

Us "old timers" remember another organization that the AMA DID
successfully ruin.

The AMA was changing Professional dirt track rules several times per
year so that
only ruch people could race and only win on harleys. If you read the AMA
rule book
you will see that ALL japanese bikes are forbidden until you spend $$$$$
to modify them
such as new wheels because only 19 inch (harley) are allowed.

So along comes Royal Sherbert (hope I spelled it right, Royal) from
Tarpon Springs, Florida
and he starts AMRAPROS. Ass. of motorcycle racers and promoters,
owners and sponsors.
I read his rule book and joined immediately. This guy was doing
everything right except for
one thing. He did it in the USA and the AMA will ruin the sport of bike
racing if necessary
in order to ruin ALL other organizations in this country.

When I read the story in Roadracing world about the testimony and
evidence and everything
about the AMA trying to ruin CCS I kept having flashbacks about the crap
the AMA did
to destroy AMRAPROS. The AMA was screwing around with "their"
schedule (hey, races are
scheduled by the promoters that have contracts with tracks, personell,
advertisers....)
as much as possible to screw up AMRAPROS.

After that year (1988) I never raced AMA again.

Never will.
