Prediction: Haga going to win the WSB in 99

Reasons:
-He got a real bike (R7). YZF750 is just too old to compete.
Haga did alot better than his teammate Russell on the YZF750 this year
and Russell is no slouch. He won the WSB in 93 and was 2nd in 94
-Haga won alot of races in 98 considering he was a rookie who didn't know
the European tracks.
He always kicks ass in Japan though
-He won't crash so much with this year's experience
-It about time Yamaha wins one again

Reasons he may not:
-R7 just to new
-injuries (he does crash alot)
-Heard rumors Haga might race GP's in 99

Curious that the "old" YZF750 is 1 (one) year older than the RC45, ZXR
and 916!

I think the big difference is that the other three bikes have gone
thru a great deal more developement. This years 996 is quite abit
different than the 916 that came out in 94. I still think the YZF is
a great bike and Haga proved it can still kick ass, but a new bike
should be better. The RC45 is certainly better than the RC30, and I
would say the 916 is better than the 888. As for the ZXR, it is
probably in the same boat as the YZF, but I think it has had more
developement over the years. Anyway you look at it, this should be an
intresting year to come!

Bzzzzzzt. There's the reason he won't be the winner.
No way in hell that bike will take the title in it's first year
of DEVELOPMENT!

Nope, no way, nah uh.

I think he ran in the last race of the Japan Series at Sugo. He came fifth.
I'm not sure, but I think he was on the R7...No? If so, then he was already
beaten by Slight and Edwards on RC's on a Japanese track. Granted, if he
*was* on an R7, fifth is not bad for a first showing. But there is a LONG
way to go to a championship.

But if he does, it will confirm his status as one of the roadracing
elite......

If you went by history, then this is correct.

Almost every new model has gone thru growing pains
and some have never risen to the top despite a grandstand
release. The 96 GSXR is an example. It's without a doubt
the best 750 Suspersport bike, but it seems to be lacking
in Superbike form. Two, almost three years later and
Suzuki is just getting around to being consistently a little
more competetive. The bike itself is what I mean. Riders
like Witham, Yates, and Mladin have ridden the GSXR
for all it's worth and more to get good results.

He's a talent. He reminds me of Kevin Schwantz. He has been over-riding

that Yamaha to do things few other riders could make it do. We'll see. The
new Yamaha will need to be outstanding out of the box in order to win.

"The tragic news is that Nori Haga's older brother, Kensuke Haga,
crashed big time and is in very bad shape."

"Okada passes Haga, the latter suffering the flu and would
continually fall back."

These statements were written by Tracy Hagen at Sugo and
appeared on ama.superbike.com
These factors could have slowed Haga down. It will be very
interesting to see how he does next season. How long before
next season starts? Oh, never mind, it's too long :-) JB

YES!! It's just as you say.

Haga had ridden on Ducati 888 in '94 All Japan Road Race series.
He was privateer, but WORKS EATER, and he got the podium once.
