I just finished doing a couple of the GSXr750's today (the kits came in 6-3-99)
after closer inspection of the replacement parts I can see why Suzuki is
recalling the bikes. The parts being replaced is the cam chain tensioner and
the slipper on the cylinder head. (the repair/replacement procedure is
relativly simple & a local dealer sould be able to do it while you go to lunch
providing he's not already swamped). the new tensioner has a shorter body and a
larger foot for more surface area contact on the tensioner slipper. It is
feasable that the old tensioner could put too much pressure on a localized
point & cause the slipper to break.
Any owner who has not had the recall performed should have it done immediatly.
the parts for both the 600's & 750's should be available if we have all of the
kits we ordered.
Again I say anyone who has not had the recall done on their bike(s) should get
it done A.S.A.P.
