He's resting as comfortably as can be after going down on the Dragon.
Broke a couple of ribs, punctured his lung, and something about his
spleen (I think he said ruptured, and out of surgery)... I'll know
more later.

Larry from TN is stopping by today. I'll take a ride up later (about
3 hours away). He's spoken to Karen, so she knows what's going on.

He's in Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, TN.

That's all I know so far.

His spleen is out. They did do that last night. Larry's been to see
him... and will pickup the bike and take it to his garage. He should
be out of the hospital by Thursday.

Any details as to what happened?
Wish him luck for me regardless.

Blunt Trauma Hospital... imagine they get more than a few payin'
customers this time of year. Tell Ghost we're sendin' th' bestest PNW
juju there is his way. And to hurry up and get th' fuck out of that
place!

>That's all I know so far.

Shit. now I gotta go check Killboy's site to see if he was hammin' it
up for th' camera... was it Mon?

Snarl... thanks for th' heads up

Damn the luck. He has to take a detour 'cos a scenic route is closed by
a landslide and this happens.

Best wishes to Ghost from the two of us.

Yup, spleen is gone. He looks pretty good... but you know Ghost, he
was wearing every protective thing they make.

Riding Vector... He didn't even get to the picture takin' guy... it
was early on, he was going pretty slow, 2nd gear, shifting down to
1st... missed the gear, put it in neutral and it didn't slow him down
when the clutch came out.... pucker, brakes... too hard, low side,
high side, down the mountain about 30 feet with the bike on top.

Somebody following him saw the litter of his bags on the road and
found him.

He was supposed to be on his way to our house in Atlanta. Pauline

On the East Tennessee riders forum there was discussion of salt on the
road Sunday, mostly on the centerline and edges. The rain Monday should
have cleaned it off.

From what Aitch posted, Ghost may not have known US 441 through Rocy
Mountain Nat'l Park was closed due to a landslide. Here's a link to the
park page about the closure:
http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/temproadclose.htm

There's a link on that page to a map showing alternate routes.

Depending on where you are and where you are going, there's an alternate
a little farther south of there, the Cherohala Skyway. It had a
landslide this winter as well, but they have made a detour.

I doubt that was it.

Heal fast, Ghost.

I know that one. The bracelet they make you wear is really stylish,
though. Please send him best wishes for a speedy recovery.

That helmet probably saved his hide, as the bike pinned his helmet
against a tree. He managed to remove the chin strap and maneuver
himself out of there. I don't want to think what would have happened
without it.

My latest acquisition (to go with the full leathers, fullface,
racing boots and gloves)? A back protector.

Good to hear that he'll be OK.
Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.
