Thanks
I've ordered parts from them twice. Received good service and prompt
delivery. Their site is a little amateurish but I think they're OK. Saved
quite a bit of money, about $300 on the combined orders.
There's been a big flap in RMH about their 'spam' postings here, but I
look at as an on-topic service, not a nuisance. I've seen a lot more
worthless postings here than theirs. (Fire up your flamethrowers, I've my
asbestos underwear on.).
Anyhow, (cough, cough) I'll have an iced tea now, I'm going riding.

To each his own, Ray. My post was in response to a question about this site
and I answered from my own personal experience with the company. I also
despise mass spamming, but in the year I have been reading this newsgroup, I
can only recall 3 - 4 postings from this company. If I don't like a particular
posting, I delete it. Personally, I prefer to separate the wheat from the
chaff rather than follow some blind absolute like the "Boulder Pledge".

Darn, Ray, all this is making me thirsty. How about a 'Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale' or
a 'Murphy's Irish Stout'? I'll get the first round. I actually agree with you on
most of what you said. I guess we just have different 'pain thresholds'. Most of
the undesireable postings can be filtered out automagically. The rest get the
DELETE button. I'm not as naieve as might appear; been surfing the internet as part
of my job since the 80's when the only sites were the academic and military sites
and the fledgling USENET. Before IE and Netscrape -- remember Mosaic? Anyway...
I've written my fair share of emails to "abuse@..." because of mass spamming, but
occasionally there are a few useful items amidst all the debris.
RMH has been a gold mine of information dealing with riding, safety and
maintenance. Just about everyone complains about the high cost of parts at HD
dealerships, so when a small company like DB can save me some serious money, I
don't mind their once in a while post. We get barraged in our snail-mail boxes with
trash advertisements all the time, but it doesn't stop us from shopping at their
stores when we need something. Now if we could just stop "Mary White" from mailing
out those worthless coupon books... <sfsf>
Don't know if we'll change each other's opinions much, but I enjoyed the
discussion.
Cheers!

So Can I assume they are OK to get stuff from? I Just want to know if
they send the stuff as advertised or are they one of these company's
that charge your card then make excuses for weeks why the stuff isn't
shipped yet.
Thanks
I've had good service and prompt delivery with no hassles. Plus, saved 30 %. Price
your parts at an HD dealership, then compare. I've ordered from them twice and will
do so again when I need anything.

Most people do have different pain thresholds. In my case, one thing
that really annoys me is people expecting me to bear the cost of their
advertising. And in the case of the domain I am posting from--their
advertising most definately costs me--this is MY news server. Unless
I want to buy more disk space and more bandwidth, for every spam I
give up one or more (maybe desireable) articles.

Of course I remember Mosaic. (What I don't remember is the name of
the "shim" I used so that I could use it with my Netcom shell account)

I don't buy from spammers. I don't buy from telephone solicitors. And
not only have I written my share of emails to various abuse addresses,
I am one of the people who answers "abuse@" at couple of domains besides
my private one here. (Here I have an abuse address to be RFC compliant-
it has never received a complaint, but it has received spam--talk about
stupid spammers)

There is no comparison between email and postal mail. Email advertising
costs the spammer the same amount (usually practically nothing) whether
they send to 1 person or 100,000,000. Postal advertising costs a minimum
of a (US) dollar per recipient. Figure the cost of postage, printing,
etc--that is actually probably a lot lower than today's costs. (Costs
estimates are what it cost Mervyn's to send out a single page flyer in
the early 80's when my ex worked in their direct mail department). Contrast
that with your small company like DB who pays around $20.00 US a month
to send out his spam. YOU are paying his costs. AOL raised their prices
$2 a month and attributed the costs to the cost of handling email and
usenet spam. My dsl provider (a medium sized ISP) spent a quarter of a
million dollars last year upgrading their usenet service--and they estimate
that over 25% of the traffic on their news servers is incoming spam.

You never know. (I'm kind of surprised DP hasn't jumped in on this one-
he sees the problem from the ISP end too)
>Cheers!
Yep. Next ones on me.
(Oh, and I'll shop at my friendly local independant--even if I do have
to pay slightly more--I like being able to put my hands and eyes on the
item first--dealers are a different story.)
