The pleasure was all mine! And thanks, once again, for all the help!
Gotta love this wrenching team, they even show up with their own beer! <g>
Also had the pleasure of meeting Bear's cub, Jeff, who promptly jumped
in to help with the hack set up.
Nice kid ya got there, Bear! Hope he can iron out the problems with his
scoot, and join us for Vermouth.

> And, we did manage to turn a few wrenches too.

A few wrenches!? Holy cow!! That hack will never be removed again! That
was hard work. <g>
I'll let youse guys describe all _that_ fun.

Me? Once the bike had the correct 2 degree lean _away_ from the hack, I
was able to get the carb set up correctly. Next week, I'll work on
figuring out what jets I'm gonna need. Be kinda different riding with
no gaping wounds sucking in air all over the place!
I succeeded in delaying the hack brake installation <g> as most of the
parts are _still_ not here, and we'll wait to put on the quick
disconnect, and speed bleeders at the next session. (course with my
luck, the speed bleeder doesn't fit the CLE hack brake)
A fairing and windshield (thank you Bear!!) managed to find their way
onto Doc. I don't think he looks very happy that way, but I'll give it
the good old girl scout try. Maybe. ;)

Had a bunch of snow find it's way into the hack over the winter, and it
rotted out the new seat I'd made. I tore it apart last night to find
that the gel pad I had put into the seat, had gotten a hole in it at
some point, and that was all leaked out. Nasty mess that was! A buddy of
mine is gonna cut me a new seat bottom out of plywood, then it's back to
scratch building a seat that will be comfortable for Tori for more than
50 miles. Of course I chucked all the extra foam in the fall.

Hopefully, the clutch cable will arrive today, so I can get some miles
on 'im this weekend!

Thanks Traci. He's really hoping that next part we put in will fix it, and he is looking forward to the trip.

Naaaaaa! Now that we _know_ what bolts _NOT_ to loosen, removing the hack will be a piece of cake... and, we have wrenches that will work (fit). /;^)

Strictly, 'as per manual'...

Mind you, we had to do it several times before we read _ALL_ the directions and performed the steps in proper sequence. Heh,heh!

Pleasure seeing you also.
You're most welcome.

The brake session _will_ be done at the 'Bear's Den'.

Don't forget to get that nut and washer for the brake pedal pad and get it on.

I think we still have to wire up the DC outlet for your leg charger too... (CRS?)

Damn, that sucks... I bet if you emailed your mailing address to oktr6r AT

I forgot all about that! <g>

Haven't taken a ride yet. Had a few tranny problems that I got ironed out.
Hopefully I can get out today before I have to go pick up my sister from
the train station.
No, she wouldn't be amused if I showed up with the bike. I don't think. heh

Yea, it's probably with all the wiring I "hid". Still trying to figure
out who put all that speaker wire in my tool box.

They STILL have it, and don't know what the hell is going on with it either!
No problem duplicating the problem... it flat looses voltage at exactly 65 mph.

I talked to the service writer on Friday morning and he said "We think we found the problem, just got to test ride it to make sure". I called at 4 PM and he said "That didn't fix it". I asked him what he did and he said that they "LOGICALLY replaced the ignition module". I reminded him that I told him, that I had ALREADY replaced the ignition module and the coil.

I told them I brought the bike to THEM because they were Supposed to be better at troubleshooting than I was, and had test equipment that I didn't! <g>

Gonna call them later today, if they don't call me first. (The service guys don't work on the weekends).

In what way? You did get the new cable, correct? Adjustment procedure?
After sitting all winter it probably just needs a few *love taps* with a BFH! <g>

Where did you get the shifter from? I still want to do a few tweaks on the angles with mr. fire_wrench. (Long as you don't mind a painted shifter, that is...) /;^)

There is only this coming weekend to get Doc and Jeff's bike straightened out...

I'm thinking another trip to Malta...

New cable adjusted by the book! Hell, I go through about 2 cables a
year. I could do that part with ma eyes closed.
I did keep them open tho. ;)

I was discouraged from doing so, tho it was next on my list! <g>
Looks to be a trashed throw out bearing. Heading down to Jim's this AM
for parts, should be all set by Sat.
found my old notes too. I replaced all that back in '03. Doesn't make me
quite so mad knowing I got 2 seasons out of it. :-/
NO we are _not_ dropping the hack to do this!!!

I got mine back on. That project was postponed til a later date.

I think it'll get me through another season. I'm really kinda afraid to
screw with this one, after having it already break off in my hand once,
already. It'll do for now.

Get Jeff's bike running! I got this covered.

30mph wobble gone? Did ya try some 50+mph riding?

I think you guys got that pretty dead on!
I need to throw some weight in the hack and take it out on some curves
to check that, hop on the Northway and get 'im up to around 80 and see
how that feels, and try some heavy braking over in the Commons parking
lot too. But, around here, it felt great!

Heh,heh! Certainly glad of that. Although now that we know what parts to NOT loosen up, removing and replacing the hack would not be a very big deal.

Yeah, I know. What I meant was, where did you get that shifter from originally?
(The shifter that is on Doc now.) Was it ordered from somewhere or was it custom built and then chromed??

Nice, huh?
Let's just say I _bought_ new parts in '03. After I "regained
possession" of my bike we found some used parts in place of the new ones
I bought. And that's the short version.
No telling if the new parts made it on the bike or not.
At this point I believe I have re-replaced all the stuff I bought in '03.

I know what it is, I'm not telling, and don't you dare!
They are expensive!!

I showed my folks the pics of all the stuff we had in the garage. Dad
didn't know the garage was _that_ big! lol

For sure!

I didn't call them yesterday, and they didn't call me. I'm thinking it's about time for an eye-to-eye conversation on Monday, and VERMOUTH is that coming weekend. <sigh>

Heh,heh! It would have been a case of... "Ahhhhh Shit!", IF the bending process went awry. <g> Now that I know they are available, I have less trepidation about bending the one on Doc. (See how it works?)

I don't have much room in my garage left.... barely enough room to do work on a bike. There is a *bunch* of stuff I should throw away... BUTT, as soon as I did, I would _need_ that piece of stuff! <g>

I should be taking notes. This is called "planning ahead", isn't it?
